When I called MSNBC last night and they asked me the nature of my call I told them, the comments of Peter Arnett, he took a long painful breathe and connected me to another person. From all accounts, they were deluged with outraged calls. It's hard to avoid the conclusion that this, rather than disgust at Arnett's pro-Saddam efforts, was the motivating force behind his termination.
It's worth remembering to contact NBC and tell them they did the right thing. Following the stick with the carrot will help them stave off any "firer's remorse."

Now for that mayor and town counsel in the NJ town that will not permit yellow ribbons to be placed on public property.

NBC, MSNBC, and National Geographic have all fired him. Does this mean that he has absolutely no reason for being in Iraq and will be required to leave the theatre of operations? Immediately?

"...did you hear the Rather tape from last night? Wow, just as bad as Arnett."
No, did not - I'd rather not listen to dan. dan & pete should both get to spend eternity with saddam, one on each cheek.
To: LTCJ
D'Asshole was deeply soddened and troubled by the firing in triplicate. I'd imagine he was also deeply saddened.

WOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!
Way to go FReepers!!!! Yes, I do think we probably helped them make their decision!
Does anybody think that Arnett's response sounded even remotely like an apology?

So who thinks Baghdad Pet will sign up with Al Jazeera?
To: Pikachu_Dad
It was much too early for viewer outrage to get him. I'm not so sure. I, for one, was up waaaaaay past my bedtime writing irate-grams to the big-wigs. They heard us last night- within moments of that footage hitting the air.
To: b4its2late
I would prefer he became a martyr while trying to leave Baghdad.

He hosted a program accusing the US of using Nerve gas in Viet Nam. As I remember, it was a little more than hosting. He made it all up and I think it was Cambodia, not VN.
Anyway, we definitely need a link to a reputable article.

So who thinks Baghdad Pet will sign up with Al Jazeera? Either that or he signs up for U.S. welfare checks - and he still wouldn't be greatful!!

"Matt read the termination letter live about 5 minutes ago." Sorry I missed that!
