Good Morning.
This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - LIVE THREAD.
It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.
Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A breif description of what the graphic is would help:
To all who helped this get started, thank you!
Special thanks to An.American.Expatriate for staring the daily threads, Mo1 for the screamer, the AdminMods for their tolerance, mhking for the video links, and, of course, Belly Girl...

Here's an interesting site I haven't seen on these threads before:
Media Map of Iraq-- A bird's-eye view of where journalists are
It shows in map form where embeds and independent journalists are located. If you click on a map icon, it shows the journalist's name and organization---and you can click on the journalist's name for link to his/her reports. It also has a page "Behind the Map", which says among other things:
The Department of Defense has a master list of the participants in the embedding program, but they wouldn't share it with Poynter Online. They wouldn't even give any figures more specific than the total numbers of embeds -- around 600. The Pentagon has understandable security concerns -- and that's why a responsible map would only paint journalists' locations in broad strokes.
It's not clear to me whether this website is revealing embeds who have been assigned to units from which they have filed no reports...but it sounds like they're not. This is all going to be very interesting as it all comes out after the war is over.

America should be waking up to good news today...our guys moving forward, freeing Iraqis, kicking the bad guys' rears all over the place.
I saw a lot of those pix from Afghanistan---smiling faces, playing games again, seeing movies and watching tv, etc. After 2 decades of war and opression, freedom.
I am starting to see the same from Iraq---smiling faces after 3 decades of war and opression. They are close to freedom.
The freedom in Afghanistan, and now Iraq, is not from another conquerer; it is from a liberator. I just hope in 10 or 20 or 50 years, these liberated peoples don't become another France in showing their appreciation, or lack thereof.

I'm betting that this is exactly what we expected to happen.

The President and his Cabinet officials, Dr Rice for example, have said this repeatedly to presstitutes. The leftist press ( and members of congress) still do not believe that he says what he means.

I realize I'm jumping in on this in the middle of the conversation, but the Brit tank they're using over there is the Challenger II....and their Infantry Fighting Vehicle is called the Chieftan if memory serves correctly.

Lotso' traffic in Bag. Looks like some military vehicles in the background. Can't tell if that's a mosque or not, picture is very dark. Ragheads ragging again.
To: johniegrad
Raghead on Bagcam has either cell phone or two way radio and appears to be communicating with a ragheadette. I don't know how to speak ragheadish however.
To: johniegrad
That seems to be the same mosque we've been seeing all along, only now at street level.

You are right. The way the media spin our success into defeat means that when the regime falls they will be shocked, but still not awed by our success. It will be exquisite to watch them spin how Saddam turned into a philanthropic democrat for the sake of his people - and his capitulation had nothing to do with "The Plan."
