I couldn't find it in me to laugh. I found that question incredibly offensive and slanted. If these idiots in the press don't know the difference between legitimate military action and terrorism, they ought to try to visit Basra. Then they'd find out in a hurry.

I looked at your summary a bit and saw only one thing that Franks made really clear : third to the last paragraph regarding the "reserves" ... He was specifically referring to the 4th Infantry Division and about whether Turkey keeping them out was a problem. Franks stated it was very important for them to have remained off shore of Turkey for precisely as long as they were there, and challenged the reporters to speculate for themselves as to why that was true.

So many people are saying "we don't have enough forces around Baghdad, etc"... he was really hammering home that we have enough, and that with the plan we have followed there are plenty of forces in the north given the huge leverage we obtain with our air power.

The river Tig. is easily wide enough for barge traffic but silt problems due to desert conditions would require frequent dredging. Only small boat traffic is currently used I believe.

Holy smokes! AP is reporting that 4000 Arab volunteers have come to Iraq to be suicide bombers. I can only pray the the captured Iraqi general who revealed this did so as a scare tactic.
