***Operation Iraqi Freedom - Situation Room - Day 11 - LIVE THREAD***
Everywhere! | 30 Mar 2003 | An.American.Expatriate

Good Morning.

This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - LIVE THREAD.

It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.

Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A breif description of what the graphic is would help:

To all who helped this get started, thank you!

Special thanks to An.American.Expatriate for staring the daily threads, Mo1 for the screamer, the AdminMods for their tolerance, mhking for the video links, and, of course, Belly Girl...

Blix is a UN employee with no loyalty to the US. It will take a little time, but we'll find his MAJOR FLAW in the days ahead and he will be named an arrogant liar.

There's sounds of someone nailing something up on the CBS bag cam.

Last night, before the CNN WMP BagCam went down, I watched them building something that looked like a back-yard storage shed, about 12' X 12', on the roof between the cam and the intersection. It was just a frame then, but it sounds like they're covering it now; I've heard both sawing and nailing.

I haven't been able to get back onto either CNN camera today, though; just MSNBC -- I can hear them working, but can't see anything.

New Jed Babbin comments at NRO.

Whatever the number [of Arabs flowing into Iraq to fight], we know that it doesn't include the 900 Ansar al-Islam terrorists who tried to get into Iraq this morning, and ran into some real soldiers. Ansar al-Islam is a Kurdish Sunni Islamic extremist group which is part of the al Qaeda organization. But they aren't too smart. When they got caught, they broke the first rule in the terrorist playbook: they got into a real fight with real soldiers, not the unarmed civilians they're used to killing. Those who survived fled back into Iran. Others, like the one who ran a pickup truck into a group of American soldiers this morning in Kuwait, won't be that dumb. (*snip*)

The Brits--who have learned a thing or two there--attacked a terrorist position before dawn today southeast of Basra. The Royal Marine Commandos--some of the best there are--captured an Iraqi colonel and a large cache of weapons including about two dozen SAMs. Very well done, gents. Intelligence makes all the difference. Which is why the Brits' push is part of what they call "Operation James." As in Bond, James Bond.

Where DOES this guy get such good sources??? I hadn't heard anything before about that battle with Ansar al-Islam terrorists this morning.

that's exactly what I'm hearing now.

Now this guy is talking clearly right now, and it's German. This guy on the CBS bagcam is speaking German right now.

Pardon me for going off topic here, I was wondering if anyone knows how many two term Republican Presidents there have been versus two term Democrat Presidents? Or even a place to find that info?
