Good Morning.
This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - LIVE THREAD.
It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.
Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A breif description of what the graphic is would help:
To all who helped this get started, thank you!
Special thanks to An.American.Expatriate for staring the daily threads, Mo1 for the screamer, the AdminMods for their tolerance, mhking for the video links, and, of course, Belly Girl...

The use of the "raghead" term should be reserved for those who are actively opposing the US action AND who are not ignorant. Ignorance IS an excuse. Those who oppose our action and know WHY we're in there (not to mention those who are shooting at US troops) are, at the very BEST, "ragheads."

I think it was an MSNBC piece about 20 minutes ago, discussion related to sucide/car bombers and changes to the rules of engagement. The rules are if the occupants of a car do not respond to a "turn around" order within 5 seconds, the car is destroyed, regardless of the occupants (men, women, children, white-flags, etc.). The report went on to say that the good Iraqis were adapting to this rule very rapidly.

Get Fox on they have footage of a B-52 bomber carpet bombing a Iraqi frontline position up north....

"Pause"-talk was created in Washington by the chattering intelligensia who felt left out of the loop.
Here's how I see it. CENTCOM saw the forecast for that sandstorm blowing in last week. They decided it was time to hit the road before we got socked-in down in the Kuwaiti desert. Instead, they unleashed several armorned units and told them to skeedaddle to their pre-planned positions before the storm hit. Thus the early footage of long armored caravans screaming across the desert.
Some units had to drive thru the storm for a day, but by the 2nd day they were all settled in for the rest of the storm. Logistical support units, unfortunately, had to start their caravans in the midst of the storm.
Now, as the dark of the moon approaches, all are catching up and finalizing their positions, while air strikes prepare the battlefield for what's to come.
All you military vets out there: Doesn't this make as much sense as the "pause" theory?

Good insight.
Using the blabbermouth press to dis-inform the enemy is a time-honored tradition.
Of course, the Pentagon ALSO thunk up the idea of using "embeds" so that American viewers would get the REAL story---as opposed to the disinformation.
That line about S&A was a corker--it DID make SH think that we'd announce our arrival just like Desert Storm. Also fooled a lot of Americans...that's OK. SH took the bait.
