Good Morning.
This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - LIVE THREAD.
It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.
Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A breif description of what the graphic is would help:
To all who helped this get started, thank you!
Special thanks to An.American.Expatriate for staring the daily threads, Mo1 for the screamer, the AdminMods for their tolerance, mhking for the video links, and, of course, Belly Girl...

Doesn't anyone think it is strange that there has not been a definitive answer as to who the driver of the truck was? I assume they got the guy or did I miss something?

Good mooooorning Situation Room! Back home from the festival---a great time! Luckily my pickin' fingers aren't on the same hand that controls my mouse, so won't interfere with the Freepin' today. :^)
Are there any DOD briefings or others scheduled for today?? Sorry I missed Gen Franks briefing, sounds like he tried to calm a few blathering babies.

Rummy talking w/ Tony Snow and Brit Hume now. Remember folks when you hear the lamestream talking heads start asking ab out us "bogging down".....and the Coalition is meeting "stiff resistance" we've moved farther and faster in 9 days than any army unit before and have only incurred 35 KIA's and a handful of POW's in the process. Go look at your history of what happened in the first 9 days of the U.S. involvement in Korea (Task Force Smith), Vietnam (Ia Drang Valley) or what happened to us at the Kaserine Pass in WW II. We are neither "bogging down" nor are we meeting the type of "stiff resistance" the media would have you believe. The socialist/leftist media are playing the same game they played after Tet in 1968. Tet was, by most accounts, a last ditch effort by N. Vietnam to unseat US positions. It failed, and left the north in a weakened and vulnerable position. Unfortunately, rather than use military logic at this point, we went with media opinion and did not respond. We could have wiped them out in 6 months if Rumsfield would have been in charge.
Fortunately for the US, we now have the internet and are able to bypass the leftist media. They are becoming insignificant, particularly when it comes to trying to sway public opinion. As well, Fox is out there and is, for the most part, reporting the news rather than trying to invent it. Say what you might about Rupert Murdoch, but he found a market for a less-leftist media outlet and gave us Fox.

Yup, the St. Pete's Times was going to pay Susie $20K PLUS another $25K to the United Way.

That's odd.....I've thought from the first shot foired downrange that this was a "real war". Guess I was wrong.

The alleged "spies" that were caught and paraded on TV yesterday were said to have been caught with satellite phones. The same phones that were seized from the CNN reporters who were kicked from the country last week.

The Skynews Bagdad reporter was fair at first, but now seems very tilted towards Iraq's propaganda.Perhaps he has a gun in his back.Sky News always reminds viewers to that effect before his reports. I was watching last week during some of the early air strikes, and he was rather enthusiastic about them, even mentioning which targets had been hit. Suddenly, he admitted that the rules didn't permit such reporting and that he had to be very careful. It was obvious that he had been threatened.
