Thieves net haul of canned tuna
Police are still searching for 6,120 missing giant tins of tuna A massive haul of canned tuna has been netted by thieves who swindled a food supplier, according to police. Officers have recovered 1,632 of the outsize tins, but have yet to find a further 6,120, West Midlands Police said on Thursday.
The 1,880g tins of Meteor tuna were "fraudulently obtained" from a business in Dartford, Kent, on Wednesday, a police spokesman said.
"As a result of inquiries on Tuesday of this week, officers seized part of the consignment from a warehouse in Aldridge, Walsall, where the owner had bought it in good faith," he said.
Consumers in the West Midlands who have been offered a "fishy deal" on canned tuna are urged to contact police.
The tins are all marked with the serial number BCG2884.
The investigation is being led by officers working on Operation Coppergold, a crackdown on commercial vehicle crime and warehouse theft.

Oddly enough, the thief seemed compelled to strike a pose for the security camera.

Mr. Shark said, "I ain't worried. There's other fish in the sea."
Sniffed Mrs. Shark, "Sure, but honey, your bait ain't what it used to be."

This didn't happen close to that Lesbian antiwar demonstration did it?

Oh dear. I asked my kitty where all those cans of fish in the basement came from. He simply said "school connections" and kept on eating.
He also cautioned me to keep quiet or we'd get tuna'd in to the authorities.
