Good Morning.
This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - LIVE THREAD.
It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.
Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A breif description of what the graphic is would help:
Special thanks to null and void for keeping these running on the weekend, to all of you for keeping these threads alive, the AdminMods for their tolerance, mhking for the video links, and, of course, Belly Girl...
TOPICS: Breaking News; Foreign Affairs; Miscellaneous; News/Current Events; War on Terror

Curiously, these puffed up pundits don't care about accounting irregularities at the UN, Kofi's appeasement of intern'l thugs and Oil for Food mischief, Russia's possibly hiding weapons in UN ships, CEDAW, ENDA, ICC and "hate crimes", anti-family, anti-God and anti- US Constitution programs pushed by the UN.
Nope, the mainstream international press has been criminally negligent, imho, by not informing the people of the world about the UN agenda and instead promoting it as the world's moral authority and instrument of "peace".

Iran is unhappy we are operating so close to their borders. Too bad. Look at it from their perspective. They've got their own internal unrest to worry about, and a lot of Iranians may well be looking across the border wondering whether we might help them out, too.
Not to mention that W named Iran as one of the Axis of Evil -- and Iraq is living proof of what happens to Axis-dwellers. They'd probably be uncomfortable having a potential invasion force poised on their borders.
And, come to think of it, a look at the map (caution: big) shows that Iran has reason to be worried about that. We're in Iraq with big forces on the west, and Afghanistan with big forces on the east. They cannot avoid the conclusion that they're caught in a vise -- and I can't avoid it, either.

Scott, we could use you - and your communications skills - in the press corp. Thanks for the common sense perspective.

That's nothing; I had someone send me a slightly malformatted table that fouled up my self-search the other day (the sidebar got shoved to the bottom, every post prior to that table was blank). The kicker is, I have 250 posts/page, so it took me most of a day to clear it out.

Really? I got through no problem. I clicked on the "War With Iraq" link at the top then in the corner it says, "Watch/Listen to BBC".

Thank you.

Q: Is there anything that Turkey could do to make it easier on the coalition? Also, what about the Kurds?
PW: Turkey giving us assistance. We're working with Kurds. It's important that all groups know that this is not the time for incursions. Turkish people didn't quite understand quite what was at stake. This action will improve the neighborhood in the long run.

Update from NYC: The three men detained on the Williamsburg Bridge were apparently drunk and had beer in thier knapsacks. Just a prank. Move along.Sober enough to rappel, though...

That's true of the Iraqis. We have never used them
You are attempting to equate the Iraqis to us. Bad analogy.

Seriously though, the guy on the left is probably playing Spades. It is the ultimate boredom game of choice in the field.

I hesitate to say this for fear of flames, but I.E. handles HTML syntax errors more gracefully than some other browsers. When I was doing HTML professionally, we used Opera to test our work, because it was unforgiving.
