Good Morning.
This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - LIVE THREAD.
It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.
Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A breif description of what the graphic is would help:
Special thanks to null and void for keeping these running on the weekend, to all of you for keeping these threads alive, the AdminMods for their tolerance, mhking for the video links, and, of course, Belly Girl...

G'morning Mo1,I was reading somewhere on FR yesterday about a journalist who had been talking with officers about how the war was going. An officer told him that we were about three days behind schedule because of the sand storm. Evidently these officers were told that by such and such date we will be in Baghdad by a senior officer. Perhaps the area commander. How this would occur I'm not sure. If the commander said, "We should be in Baghdad by such and such date if all goes according to the current plans" and the junior officer took that to be a fixed schedule forgetting about the word "IF" then I can see where the problem arises.
Now on embedding the journalists into the troops. I think this is a good idea because when they get home they will have seen the performance of the troops and feel like a brother to them. This will certainly reduce future anti military articles. You don't cuss out your brother in public. We need pro military journalists to help keep America strong. If Democrats want to cut the military they will be writing anti Democrat articles about the proposed cuts.

Thats because it is only news when the Red Cross doesn't have access - as soon as "they are all being treated well" can be reported, it's no longer news...

I'd like to see him and Jerry Nadler do a pro-wrasslin tour. It would be interesting to give them official pro-wrestler names.

They showed what??Morning, Dog. Iraqi TV showed some cell phones and 2-way radios claiming they're American. How they captured them was not made clear. They're showing the dancing crowds with pieces of downed drone. Maybe this is the part of the propaganda to show that the Iraqis are really winning the war.

the williamsburg bridge in NYC has been closed because of suspicious activity and packages left on the span.

"Are we there yet?" LOL, I was thinking the same thing watching the press corp yesterday. They are like kids in the back seat. Do you think they ever get a true picture of themselves? Juveniles instead of journalists, LOL.

Hahahahahaha! That's about right!

Ha! Steve Doucey asks Tony Snow if he is "gagged out" by the anti-American attitude at the briefings.
Tony Snow says the answer to many of these questions is "God knows, contact him." (Example...how much is this going to cost?) Tony says this is a WAR, for goodness sake!
Tony says air campaign to shape the battlefield has apparently succeeded.
Tony says the time to second guess is about 5 years from now. Good for him!

David Bloom of MSNBC reported that military planners have told him that the Medina RG Division is at about sixty five percent; as soon as its degraded to 50% of strength, we will attack.
That's good to hear. There was another report early this morning that the Medina had received chem warfare supplies and may use them.

What would the medal look like? A microphone and a pen crossed diagonally with a podium in the foreground and a tv-screen rounded rectangle in the background? What would it be called?

Sky reporting that more trucks arrived from Kuwaiti Red Crescent distributing food. "Distributing" is a relative term. It's a melee.
