Good Morning.
This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - LIVE THREAD.
It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.
Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A breif description of what the graphic is would help:
Special thanks to null and void for keeping these running on the weekend, to all of you for keeping these threads alive, the AdminMods for their tolerance, mhking for the video links, and, of course, Belly Girl...

*L* If there's not a support group yet, whoever starts one is bound to make an immediate profit.

On CNN. Michael Wolff, NY Magazine columnist, critiquing media coverage. (This is what he was supposed to talk about, but he ended up critiquing the war effort so far.) He is in the region, but not in Iraq. He says nobody knows what is going on, victory not certain, or it may be certain but you can't tell by reports. Potential quagmire, we were led to believe it would be quick. I saw this just now ... had to shut off the TV. That pathetic little poof was making me ill, and Aaron wasn't much better ... his "journalism" is exactly the sort of assinine BS that has turned me into the rabid right wing fanatic that you see before you. He should be back in NYC buns up for his boyfriend, because he has no business being anywhere near this war.

Fox News was reporting the 100,000 more within a month figure tonight on their coverage. Apparently, there are 14,000 more in within the past 24 hours.

I just stood there...with a dumb look on my face...staring at the cashier wracking my brain and the best I could think was day 8. I had to ask her the date.
To: Spunky
Wouldn't it be something if we found out that the guys on the roof next door were AJ reporters.

Sounds like the media is still SNAFU.
I really think these guys deserve an Oscar! They are very convincing in their Ministry of Truth roles. The sad thing is, the sheeple believe them!
1. Set-up the situation and build expectations
2. shortly before "action" start sowing seeds of doubt
3. Action starts: reverse course, call all expecations that YOU created into doubt.
4. Step up efforts by blaming the administration (short sighted, mismananged, etc...)
It always works and the Sheeple never even suspect that they are manipulated.
To: SoldiersGirl
I bookmarked all of these.
I stopped trying to keep up after Day 4.

Greg Kelly,"USA soliders impressed with the tenacity of Iraqis, but not real impressed with their tactics. They are not fighting smart." That is great news.

It's even worse. The sheeple are so programmed they are totally convinced they are correct and only their perception is correct.
Nothing like facts to get in their way!

all kidding aside, there has been a marked shift in this operation today, for some reason. more troops, dramatically intensified attacks on bunkers, etc. something is up.

I flipped to ABC a while ago and saw a report. They shot down our helicopter(s), they destroyed our invincible tanks, they are not being coerced to fight -- they are fighting to outcast the invader and they don't mind Saddam.
Well if its soo hard -- then I say we just nuke the place and leave.
