If todays reporters had any testicular fortitude at all, they'd get in their rental car in Kuwait city and head north. The highway from Kuwait city to Basra is hard to miss. I just know they would have a warm reception from the iraqi military. What a boon it would be for us, the reading public to be privy to an interview with a real member of the Saddam Fedayeen.
Personally, I'd encourage some of the intrepid "journalists" to show some initiative and do some real reporting.Break out of the staight-jacket of "embedded" reporting.Go get it, guys.

How many "embedded" reporters are their in Washington, D.C.? Don't you think their familiarity with their sources will color their "objectivity"?
I wonder how many of them Mr. Gabler considers "patsies"?
To: JohnHuang2
the really great thing is that eventually these reporters will eventually come home and infect the rest of the industry. A few of them are likely to carry their name and face recognition into major careers.

The Guardian, for example, is available at www.guardian.co.uk.," says Los Angeles Times media columnist Tim Rutten. LOL. The Left has become its own caricature.

I wonder how many of them Mr. Gabler considers "patsies"? Any newsman that will not invent stories that demean the troops they travel with.

Hmmm ... we figured this out even before the bullets started flying and NOW the liberals are just figuring it out ?? Say a lot about their intelligence right away.

There are some "independent" journalists in Iraq..... and some, wandering away from military units, have been caught and killed by the Iraqis.
Ya want more of them wandering about?? *sigh*

There was an article the other day that said some stuff was found and that the DoD is waiting for reporters to get there before they open it.

And now that I think about it some more, I'm not even certain that Georgie S. was even in Iraq, but more likely in Kuwait! Even that must have been too much for him!
To: bart99
Not me. No.
I'd want them headed north, where they could do some real reporting. Not this plastic stuff.
I guess the attrition rate might be a bit higher than usual, but just think of the quality of their stories.
