Peanut, an Alaskan Malamute,is the first dog to be given over to a foster family in the Pets of Patriots program. Peanut's owner is a U.S. Marine who has been deployed overseas.

That's a great idea. I had to give up my dog when I was in the USAF since my roomies were also aircrew and I had nobody to watch after him.
