You can't report the news like that. I'll do it for you:

Reuters - Coalition forces were taken by surprise during attack from Iraqi forces in Basra. The Iraqis were able to catch the coalition forces off-gurad and attack into the flank of coalition forces. Some military analysts have been critical of the American military plan because it leaves the supply lines and flank of the advancing forces exposed. Despite this, coalition forces were able to respond to the Iraqi attack. Ground forces entered into fierce fighting and became bogged down each time they had to pause to look for the next undestroyed target. Some military analysts have wondered outloud if the Pentagon had taken into account the fact that Iraq might have ground forces in Iraq.

Wild guess: they were trying to sneak up on the Brits under the cover of a sandstorm at night but it backfired because the Brits were ready for them.

A column of Iraqi tanks and armored personnel carriers poured south out of the Iraqi city of Basra on March 26, 2003 and came under attack from U.S.-led forces, a British military spokesman said. 'There is an armored column that came out of the south-east of Basra down the Al Faw Peninsula and it has been engaged,' said the spokesman at Central Command, battle headquarters for U.S.-led forces, in Qatar. Good news. I just returned from a five-day business trip to Orlando. Under normal circumstances, this would have been a real treat. But I had been literally climbing the walls down there for the first opportunity to get back home where I can get back "in sync." Yes, my hotel had FoxNews and I had a web connection, but not much time. Anyway, good to be back.

CNN: "In a major setback for coalition forces, US and British aircraft have completely obliterated an Iraqi armored column. An unknown number of innocent civilians and/or animals may have been killed or possibly injured, and decimating the Republican Guard can only further inflame the Arab Street. We are still awaiting reports on how many coalition personnel were taken prisoner by the Iraqis following this action, but the success of the operation must be having a devastating effect on the morale of our men and women in the field. And now we return to our normally scheduled coverage of global Anti-War Protests."
