Radio & Records Online ^ | March 26, 2003 | Radio & Records

Darryl Worley's patriotic song "Have You Forgotten" is now #1 on the Radio & Records country music charts, for the week ending April 5th.

This is one of the fastest climbs to #1 by a song on the country charts. "Have You Forgotten" has been on the charts only 5 weeks....usually most songs take as long as 30 weeks from its chart debut to hit #1.

Congrats to all the Freepers, listeners, Sean Hannity, and all Americans for making this great patriotic song tops on the charts.

I think its more than just the timeliness of the song for it hitting #1 so quickly.....it is a very good song.

Darryl Worley's patriotic song "Have You Forgotten" is now #1

And he was personally thanked by our President today in Florida, where he sang this song for the troops at Centcom headquarters.

If I was the "Chicks" manager, I'd be scouting the talented "wannabe's" for a replacement. The law suit would be good publicity.

It looks like the only playing Chick's song the country stations are playing is 'Traveling Soldier', which is patriotic.

Thanks for posting this link. I haven't listened to the radio that much lately so haven't heard this song. It's great and I'll buy the CD when it's released.

I am an old C&W listener (That's Country and Western, sportsfans) and Marty Robbins Greatest Hits ("Big Iron, El Paso" etc) was the last CD I bought. To my knowledge, I have never heard any of the Dixie Chicks songs.

I'm also a 3rd Generation Native Texan, so I add:

I saw Worley about 10 days ago in South Florida. He played to a packed house (local country music club) and he played his big song twice. I got a great shirt that I've been wearing around of his.

Sorry you can not hear it, reading it is not the same, but here it is
I hear people sayin'. We Don't need this war.
And I say there's some things worth fightin' for.
What about our freedom, and this piece of ground?
We didn't get to keep 'em by backin' down.
Now they say we don't realize the mess we're gettin' in
Before you start to preachin' let me ask you this my friend.

Chorus
Have you forgotten, how it felt that day?
To see your homeland under fire
And her people blown away
Have you forgotten when those towers fell
We had neighbors still inside goin' through a livin' hell
And you say we shouldn't worry about Bin Laden
Have you forgotten?

You took all the footage off my T.V.
Said it's too disturbin' for you and me
It'll just breed anger that’s what the experts say
If it was up to me I'd show it everyday
Some say this country just out lookin' for a fight
Well after 9/11 I'd have to say right.

Chorus
Have you forgotten, how it felt that day?
To see your homeland under fire
And her people blown away
Have you forgotten when those towers fell
We had neighbors still inside goin' through a livin' hell
And you say we shouldn't worry about Bin Laden
Have you forgotten?

I've been there with the soldiers
Who've gone away to war
And you bet they can remember just what they're fightin' for

Have you forgotten
All the people killed
Yes some went down like heroes
In that Pennsylvania field
Have you forgotten
About our Pentagon
Yeah all the loved ones that we lost
And those left to carry on
Don't you tell me not to worry 'bout Bin Laden

Chorus
Have you forgotten, how it felt that day?
To see your homeland under fire
And her people blown away
Have you forgotten when those towers fell
We had neighbors still inside goin' through a livin' hell
And you say we shouldn't worry about Bin Laden
Have you forgotten?

Have you forgotten?
OOOOOHHHHH
Have you forgotten?
