Good Morning.
This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - LIVE THREAD.
It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.
Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A breif description of what the graphic is would help:
Special thanks to null and void for keeping these running over the weekend and Monday, to all of you for keeping these threads alive, the AdminMods for their tolerance, mhking for the video links, and, of course, Belly Girl...

See
this article explaining why the crater looks more like a SAM crater...same stuff they were saying on NPR today, but I don't know how reliable this source is.

I agree with you 100% about the UN, but I bet France, Germany & Russia will end up getting somthing out of this deal.

Actually Fox just showed "the crater". It was not very deep or wide....probably a foot deep (at the most) and 4 x 4 feet wide.

G'Nite.
FNC embed reporter quoting military commander battling Iraqi Fedayeen forces

I just don't think so.
GWB is mighty p.o.'d at France et al. And I think he has total contempt for the so-called humanitarian suck ups attached to the U.N.
There was an article in the Wall St. Journal about a week ago that said the coalition plans to rebuild Iraq itself...IN A YEAR! Reportedly, Bush is planning to show those NGO's how to get a job done and get out....rather than perpetuating the misery one is supposed to cure.

Boy, that is exactly the best way to do it. The U.N. thugs could f*** up a 'moist' dream.

I haven't been able to follow this thread all day, but I think we ought to keep this in mind. The fedayeen (sp.) are thugs, not trained infantry. When thugs face trained infantry, the thugs pull all the dirty tricks they can, then they die dishonorably. But die they do.
Let's hope they keep sending the RG and other trained troops out to meet us in the open, and let the thugs defend the cities. Once the dying starts, the last rats will flee.

I don't really like the "if" part of Powell's sentence---I'm not real concerned about what Powell says in detail. I'm most excited because of the reputation President Bush has after being shafted by political foes. It is clear now we're going to take charge of this situation, and make the UN beg.
By the way, did you catch the story that the Aussie PM made a similar statement - eg, the coalition shall take charge, not the UN?

Hans Blix on Fox, saying that "by themselves" these atropine vials and the chemicals suits" aren't enough to indicate Iraq has done anything wrong.
I guess the words "take as a whole" mean nothing to him.
To: AFPhys
No, hadn't heard that about Howard,,,,But good for him!

Fadayeen is used to picking on unarmed civilains.
Squaring off against US Marines and the 3rd herd must be a new taste for them.

Combover actually used the words "White Anglo Saxon" today when describing the war at the U.N.
Fox reported it ended up being a soapbox for Iraq. Big surprise.
To: Howlin
Blix actually said that? This poor man might do best to slink away, he sure isn't quick enough on his feet to come up with any face saving comments.
Somebody got a pic of Combover guy, that was priceless.

I'm amazed a the people I know who are going about their daily routines catching their news from the local paper. It's beyond my ken. I mean, what they're reading is at least 12 hours old....a lifetime on this thread. Do not allow yourself to become hypnotized to this war. That is the kind of thing terrorists hope for because it will cause you to lower your 'normal security observances'.
This fighting is probably going to go on for another week, remember your healtha and your family deserve some of your time also.
Take care, friend.

I would love nothing more than to see them get nothing. I hope it works out that way.

To: Howlin
You almost have to pity Blix. He is so out of touch. I truly believe that the only evidence of WMD that he will accept is himself dying from one of them, and his final words will be "Ah, the smoking gun."

The same sort of cretins hit the Gen. Patton Museum out here in the SoCal desert.
