The Campaign for California Families is warning religious bookstores and Boy Scout Councils that they could face fines of $150,000 for refusing to hire transsexuals or cross-dressing job applicants.
The bill, introduced in January by Assemblyman Mark Leno (D-San Francisco), passed by a 6-1 margin in the Assembly Labor and Employment Committee last week. It would give transgender individuals the same protections California afforded to homosexuals in 1999, said Randy Thomasson, executive director of the Campaign for California Families.

FYI.

No government can pass such Talebanesque law. The Boyscouts can do what they want when it comes to objecting to people's behaviors and incompatible worldviews.

California *PING*
These types of laws or wrong and they are tyrannical. I have debated this subject with Democrats for years, and they just dont get it. I try to tell them they should have the right to fire a right-wing, Christian fanatic as we should be allowed to hire and fire who we want. They dont care. They say I hate gays
.Republicans are soooooooo full of hate, dont ya know? I dont hate anyone. I just have a moral code that tells me some things are right and some things are wrong.
This issue terrifies me and has been up for discussion in our church for almost 30 years. Our church has long been afraid of these types of laws. We could all be sued and bankrupt. Our church does not believe in hiring women ministers who would speak publicly in services (she can speak among other women though). Simply put, we believe in male preachers. (I don't want to start a religious debate please. I have female friends who are pastors in other denominations and it doesnt bother me, but it wont be happening in our church).
Each of our churches is autonomous. We have a right to hire and fire anyone we want. The money in the church bank account is considered God's money, therefore can only be spent for his good works and the spreading of the gospel. We feel we can only pay a preacher who is living right in the sight of God with the Lords money.
If a pastor is found to be living an unrighteous life, he must repent or he will be fired, period. No questions asked
..youre outta here. If our preacher was found to be a homosexual, he will be fired immediately. We could be in a lot of trouble with these types of laws. I cant stand to think about it. Much prayer is needed.
Once it starts out west, it only takes a few years to make it across the nation.
Sorry this was so long. This is an important issue for me.

Someone help me out here. Didn't the Supreme Court rule that the Boy Scouts had the right, as a private organization to decide who could be members/employees without worrying about being pc?
I could be remembering this incorrectly.

I thought the SC had said that too. Maybe we are both confused. If you don't like that the Boy Scouts won't hire homosexuals and/or transsexuals then start your own scouting organization and hire only the homosexuals and transsexuals. Wonder how long that would last?

The Supreme Court did rule for the Boy Scouts. But, lliberals will always use the heavy cost of defending yourself against lawsuits to kill off the organizations that they don't like. If this law passes it wil have to be taken to court, at great expense to whomever must do it. DemocRAT/lawyers are scum.
