Good Morning.
This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - LIVE THREAD.
It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.
Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A breif description of what the graphic is would help:
To all who helped this get started, thank you!
Special thanks to An.American.Expatriate for staring the daily threads, Mo1 for the screamer, the AdminMods for their tolerance, mhking for the video links, and, of course, Belly Girl...

Re: Interesting that the 3rd ID marched all the way to Karbala without any KIA.
My husband and I were at 3rd ID for 4 years, He has always said if he went into battle he'd want it to be with that Unit...
Didn't happen that way, but the unit he's with now and half bad either. :-)

I wasn't aware that these missiles were found at the plant. Re-read your cut and paste at 4231:
EXPERTS are examining suspected Scud missiles discovered searching a chemical plant outside Basra.
A number of the grey-painted rockets, about 23ft long, were found in the Dirhamiyah petro-chemical plant close to Iraqs second city.

Since you are so good at finding links, does anybody have the one to the story where the British Labor Party member was anti-war until she spoke with a woman who's family was still in Iraq?
She was wondering why the troops hadn't been welcomed warmly as was predicted. The woman told her that her family had said it was a little difficult to appear happy when the Republican Guard was living in their homes.
Thanks in advance! I'm making a collection for my daughter, (a Senior in HS), to take to school. At her request.

OK FR primer The Freeper was asking for background. Not a phrasebook.
Though the phrasebook is helpful to newcomers, I'm sure. I do believe that the moose/cheese thing originated during a dreaded Freepathon, in a spate of giddiness. But, I could be wrong.
I do believe there is a thread somewhere, but I don't care to search it out.

Ronald Young Sr (POW Helo pilot's father) on CNN now. Not the typical cry your eyes out interview. Upbeat and commendable.

You didn;t miss anything -- the Missiles were found in a plant outside Basra not in the Chemical Plant in An NajafI'm sorry. I never claimed the two plants were one and the same. In fact, I took pains to indicate I wasn't sure.
Evidently it is new news that missiles of some type were found at a chemical plant at a location in Iraq, yes?

I think what you are seeing is the MSNBC camera facing the sun this time of the day. I seem to recall this happening yesterday.
