Good Morning.
This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - LIVE THREAD.
It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.
Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A breif description of what the graphic is would help:
To all who helped this get started, thank you!
Special thanks to An.American.Expatriate for staring the daily threads, Mo1 for the screamer, the AdminMods for their tolerance, mhking for the video links, and, of course, Belly Girl...

".....why can't we just bomb their tv station.... I'm sick of their propaganda "
I've given that some thought because I felt like you at first. Now I think that the T.V. station will be our FIRST objective when we enter Baghdad.
What BETTER way could we announce to the whole country simultaneously that they were free of Saddam?!?!?!?

The dust storm might allow our guys to get some sleep.
They had better not sleep. If they do they will awaken surrounded by the RG.

Wow, thanks. Looks like they are pounding them into shape! Just so they're good and roughed up before our boys and girls get there.

Shortly after 9/11, I found FR via drudge and somehow Capitol Grilling where they asked everyone to list their favorite sites
The rest is history.

Pentagon says it has 67 awkward cuts and splices in it, like they were putting together different clips to make it match recent eventsI did a rare surf over to the regular NBC Nightly News where Andrea Mitchell, with her usual self-satisfied smile firmly in place, reported on the latest Saddam tape.
Oh, yes, midway through the piece she said ever so quickly that the tape appears to be edited (stated in just that manner), but her whole presentation was based on the assumption it was the real thing. She wrapped up by saying "if the tape is genuine", but then summed up as if he is alive and actually made the thing.
I will acknowledge that we really don't know the status of Saddam, but it was negligent, if the huge number of edits has been verified, of her to omit that stunning detail. As I type Shep speaking of the tape and what a difference in presentation as he mentioned "sixty-some" editing splices.

Our guys and gals had better get all the rest they can. Tired soldiers make mistakes. The RG won't move, since they hate sandstorms as much as we do.

Gen. Franks said yesterday that most of the "surrenders" are just people packing up and going home. Even if all 3000 came from 51st (which of course they didnt), then that leaves an additional 5000-7000 men. It's not like their hiding behind a grain of sand in the desert. These men either went home, surrendered or are dead. Perhaps 200 may have melted into the population with continued hostile intentions. Saddam was definitely full of horse doodoo when he said the 51st is fighting our troops. As of 2 days ago there were only 120 men fighting in Umm Qatr and we wiped them out with an airstrike.
Comparing this war to a Vietnam or WWII, this is a total cake walk. No less tragic for the casualties, but when the media start spouting garbage like "fierce resistence", "surprising", or "setback" I find it laughable. They prove once again that they not only have absolutely no idea what they are talking about, but also that they are immature and naive to the extreme. If it weren't for the pure data and reports from embeds, there is no way in hell I could stomach listening to these morons chime in day in and day out.

If anything, the tape makes it more likely that he's dead, since it was so obviously prerecorded.

Q: What do you say about more resistance than expected?
I know that you did not pose your question to me, but I just have to respond. I have been yelling, and screaming this all day.
Did 9/11 not happen, was it our imagination? Have this people not treating to kill us all?
In Osama bin Laden last video statement call for all moslem countries to join in and assist Iraq?
Did not Saddam call for a jihad? Why do we have terrorist alerts in these people are not taken serious? If I expected islam radicals to participate in this war, why did'nt the military and the government. I will stop for now, but I'm not done.
