I saw a view of the starboard side of the tail roter area, it appears a mess.

My guess is the Apache was hit by heavy machinegun or RPG in that area, making it uncontrollable. If so, the pilot did a "skidding" landing.

There's a technical term "Recission"(???) whereby the Pres simply does not send the check. But GWB is a big-spender-type. Not likely to cut back too soon.

But before you say "proven false", you should know that Brit Hume had an exclusive interview with Colin Powell today and in it Powell said the plant is being investigated and he did not sound like the "all clear" had been given on it.

Someone (wish I could remember who) said last night on the thread that he didn't think they ought to say it was proven yet - if Saddam was proven at this point to have WMD, he'd have nothing left to lose by using them, but right now, if none have been found, he's still ahead in the world's public opinion - unjustly invaded.

I heard something similar this morning (on NPR of all places!) and Powell's remarks also made me think of this.

I think it's just not in our interest to tell everything we know yet.

The interview took place about 1.5 hours ago, I believe. Don't know if they'll reair the whole thing during "Special Report".

I remember when this was announced. Brett Bair had received confirmation from a senior military advisor at the Pentagon. I think you're right. We're not telling everything we know at this point.
