Good Morning.
This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - LIVE THREAD.
It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.
Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A breif description of what the graphic is would help:
To all who helped this get started, thank you!
Special thanks to An.American.Expatriate for staring the daily threads, Mo1 for the screamer, the AdminMods for their tolerance, mhking for the video links, and, of course, Belly Girl...

That's probably right. I'd trust the DoD site over CSPAN. Thanks.

AC-130s can operate against AAA. You can't hit what you can't see. SAMs are the big threat.

I've been wondering what the 1st Cav has been up to.
I know there in theatre but have heard nothing about them.

I actually go with Miss Marple's 'macaroni necklace' theory.

It appeared they hit the boat with a 105mm HE round. Big boom. Lots of smoke and secondary splosions.

Rep. Jim Gibbons just went on my major like list What did he say?
To: commish
Did you notice on the crawl that Gibbons was a pilot during the 1st Gulf War? I didn't know that. He was great! (On my list too)

When the gas cylinder explosion was first reported as huge explosion near 5th fleet, I freaked. All I could think about was chemical weapons and almost made myself ill thinking about it. I couldn't imagine ever being strong enough to be fighting this insanity.
That has to be a concern. The troops are brave and we have to keep lifting them up in prayer and supporting them.

LOL Perhaps they are trying to attack viewers? Let's keep our fingers crossed.
AC-130 is the most expensive weapons platofrm we have in the sky. It is our big stick for CAS.

I used to leave me cats at home with CSPAN on. Now, I know who gave them bad ideas.

Pentagon briefing coming up on FOX.

Gibbons said that those who treated the prisoners brutally would be cauht and punished. Shep asked if these were the types who would carry the fight to the grave, and Gibbons said yes, and the grave is where we will send them.
He is very supportive of the troops and the President, thinks they are doing a great job, and is not about to take any stuff from anyone about it!

Air raid alarms in Baghdad
Too bad, the air raid sirens are not going off until after the fact.
