Good Morning.
This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - LIVE THREAD.
It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.
Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A breif description of what the graphic is would help:
To all who helped this get started, thank you!
Special thanks to An.American.Expatriate for staring the daily threads, Mo1 for the screamer, the AdminMods for their tolerance, mhking for the video links, and, of course, Belly Girl...
TOPICS: Breaking News; Foreign Affairs; News/Current Events; War on Terror

Don't you love it? The man with MISTRESSES and an army that ATTACKED THE IVORY COAST is running to the Pope! Boy, a lightning bolt sure would be welcome !

The suspect building has been found to have nothing in it of chemical nature at least according to posts on main forum. I know.
But on this thread I noted that during the interview Colin Powell gave to Brit Hume (tape, though? That could effect the accuracy) Powell said the building was going to be looked at thoroughly and he indicated it wasn't "cleared" yet.
As I say, it may have been taped and perhaps in the interim a differenct conclusion was reached.
Bottom line: I will be very curious what comes out of this latest briefing.

The Vatican stunt has to be one of the most repulsive stunts Chirac has pulled, in a long line of rupulsive stunts. What a hypocrite.

According to CSPAN (which could be wrong) RUMSFELD will be there.

I have been wondering that myself....where is the AC-130. I don't know if we would be calling them in while there is still a large threat from AAA and SAMs.
To: seamole
Spooky Spectre is very busy. It's just not PC to show the havoc it rains down.

Per DoD website it will be Clarke and Major Gen. McChrystal:
Assistant Secretary of Defense for Public Affairs Victoria Clarke and Maj. Gen. Stanley A. McChrystal, vice director for Operations, J-3, Joint Staff, conduct a DoD news briefing today at 3:30 p.m. in the DoD Briefing Room, Pentagon 2E781.

If you don't appease them, they will pee on your shoes. That's kitty terrorism.
That is so true. With my cats I am between Iraq and apeesment.

Spooky Spectre is very busy. It's just not PC to show the havoc it rains down. Probably pretty active in Western Iraq, of which (please note) we're hearing very, very little.

Brit female reporter saying on MSNBC how it has been "so much more difficult than expected" for the Brits to be able to keep control of Basra. Cars traveling through with civilian dressed resistors in them causing problems.
Saying the Shias (sect that lives near Basra)aren't as responsive to the allies as had been expected.
Whatever. The handwringing continues.
