Good Morning.
This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - LIVE THREAD.
It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.
Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A breif description of what the graphic is would help:
To all who helped this get started, thank you!
Special thanks to An.American.Expatriate for staring the daily threads, Mo1 for the screamer, the AdminMods for their tolerance, mhking for the video links, and, of course, Belly Girl...

DENIAL OF REALITY.
Lets leave it at that. How about you lay off the personal insults? It is uncalled for. I did not insult you in any way. I was simply asking questions.

were they embedded?

He said he has seen literally hundreds of executed people and he has absolutely no doubt that those soldiers were shot up close in the forehead with a rifle, execution-style. Interesting. Do you have any more information from him?

Correct me if I am wrong, but I think the Russian help has to do more with the fact that Saddam's regime is a long-time client of the Russians and owe them lots of money.
For someone who fights Islamic fundamentalists, Saddam sure does have a lot of ties with them.
Besides, if the Russians were smuggling this stuff in humanitarian shipments, they were violating the oil for food program. AND, what Islamic fundamentalists was Iraq fighting THIS YEAR, in JANUARY?
To: nwpatriot
How should that message be given?Well being civilized we should hand over some baathist bastards to the families of some of their victims and give them a camcorder.

Sorry, Laura...just back. Rush, and he read this:
A group of American anti-war demonstrators who came to Iraq with Japanese human shield volunteers made it across the border today with 14 hours of uncensored video, all shot without Iraqi government minders present. Kenneth Joseph, a young American pastor with the Assyrian Church of the East, told UPI the trip "had shocked me back to reality." Some of the Iraqis he interviewed on camera "told me they would commit suicide if American bombing didn't start. They were willing to see their homes demolished to gain their freedom from Saddam's bloody tyranny. They convinced me that Saddam was a monster the likes of which the world had not seen since Stalin and Hitler. He and his sons are sick sadists. Their tales of slow torture and killing made me ill, such as people put in a huge shredder for plastic products, feet first so they could hear their screams as bodies got chewed up from foot to head."
This is from an article linked to from Drudge.

Pants down - my guess is they wanted to check to see if they had a certain medical procedure performed. (i.e. Are they circumcized and possibly Jewish) [ Maybe they aren't aware that a large number of Americans are circumcized ]Ahhh! Just like the Nazis used to do...

Al Jazeera, the mouthpiece of the religion of peace? Currently it is not in English. According to Nightline on Friday, they should be up in English with in the week.

Look, KJ, the AK-47 is not a target weapon. For a soldier in battle to place a bullet precisely to the forehead (three times!!!) is extremely unlikely, underline extremely. They were killed AFTER capture.

Speaking of Russians, please check this one out:
"In need of a surgeon to save his life, Saddam Hussein's aides have sought help from Moscow, according to the British daily The Sun.
The paper cited a senior UK government official who said British intelligence intercepted a message Saturday suggesting that Saddam is still alive in a secret hideaway in Baghdad but requires medical intervention the Iraqis cannot provide."

Report on combat injuries being treated in Germany. Most combat injuries are from explosions...rockets, exploding vehicles, etc.

Pentagun briefing tentatively scheduled for 3:30 PM ET.

Sounds like fireworks, matter of fact. Sometimes they LOOK like fireworks, too.

Here's a question: Should we allow the life-sving medical attention to be given to Saddam, just so we can keep him alive to be judged for war crimes (and executed), or do we just let him die?
To: killjoy
It's pretty obvious we are picking up guys with these jammers which means we likely have a few Iraqi commanders.
Most can see why we're not RUSHING to Baghdad. We want all the intelligence we can get so we can change our plan accordingly.
