Good Morning.
This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - LIVE THREAD.
It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.
Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A breif description of what the graphic is would help:
To all who helped this get started, thank you!
Special thanks to An.American.Expatriate for staring the daily threads, Mo1 for the screamer, the AdminMods for their tolerance, mhking for the video links, and, of course, Belly Girl...

There's a radio talk show host here in Seattle on KVI named Bryan Suits who is active duty military. He served in GW I and Bosnia. His job in Bosnia was dealing with the investigation of war crimes, executions, assasinations, and mass murder. He said he has seen literally
hundreds of executed people and he has
absolutely no doubt that those soldiers were shot up close in the forehead with a rifle, execution-style.
He was apoplectic yesterday when he saw the pictures and video. He says these guys were executed, period.
As to why their pants are around their ankles, one can only imagine the worst...

Do you have any expertise in bullet wounds? I have some friends who do forensics, but none personally.

I'd say the media is at the point where coordinates and real time become a problem and restrictions are imposed. They can film but they can't send it until we say.

In the vicinity of 5th Fleet. It was a cooking gas cylinder that somehow exploded. Not terror linked.

None are so blind as those who will NOT see. Poor old killjoy will not accept the testimony of ANYBODY except, I suppose, the dead soldiers...

Powell has filed a diplomatic protest to Russia regarding the weapons and equipment, which we believe were smuggled in in humanitarian shipment. We have also provided Russians with the information. Per Wendell Goler of Fox.

Quagmire....stalled....resistance....not a cakewalk. BAH!Bah indeed. Don't forget "where's the jubilation?"
Bless the woman in the House of Commons today who said her contacts in Baghdad said it is hard to rejoice with the Republican Guard living in your house.
It bears repeating.

I have, worked in an ER for 7 years, but didn't watch the video so can't say, but saw a paramedic poster say they were very CLOSE wounds, not from a distance and NOT through a Kevlar vest or helmet. Period.

absolutely no doubt that those soldiers were shot up close in the forehead with a rifle, execution-style.What was more telling was they didn't even try to hide the bodies, made a point of showing them, sending a message.

It would make sense for the Russians to help the Iraqis because they both have been at war with fundamentalist Islam.

The GPS jammer can be a real headache if it's operational in the Iraqi hands.

Okay, then.
Sweepers, sweepers, man your brooms. Give the ship a clean sweepdown both fore and aft. Sweep all passageways and ladder wells. Take all trash and garbage to the fantail. Now sweepers.

I didn't focus closely on the video, but there was one American who had suffered a fatal head wound but had also suffered a disabling shot in the chest.Shot after his Kevlar was removed.
I guess he musta taken it off in the heat of the battle, non?

there is one man in the pow group that was looking strong..at least for that situation. poor mother carried on about how he looked scared and cold and could someone give him a blanket. what a terrible thing to see for her
military guy on fnc said he was trying to lead the way for the rest...i guess he must be in charge or something
