Michael Moore booed as he slams Iraq war at Oscars March 24 2003
Famed US documentary maker Michael Moore used his win of an Oscar today to launch a violent attack on US President George W Bush and war in Iraq amid loud boos from the audience.
"We live in fictitious times," he said when picking up the award for best documentary for his anti-gun film Bowling for Columbine.
"We live in a time with fictitious election results that elect fictitious presidents. We live in a time when we have a man sending us to war for fictitious reasons.
"We are against this war Mr Bush. Shame on you. Shame on you!," he said to loud boos from an audience of 3,500 including most of Hollywood's top stars.
When he went backstage at Hollywood's Kodak Theatre to face reporters, Moore was unapologetic for his outburst.
"I'm an American, and you don't leave your citizenship when you enter the doors of the Kodak Theatre. What's great about this country is that you can speak your mind," he said.
He said that, far from being appalled, many people in the audience stood up to applaud him.
"I say tonight I put America in a good light," he said praising the decision to push ahead with the Oscars despite the war raging in the Middle East.
"I showed how vital it is to have free speech in our country and all Americans have the right to stand up for what they believe in," he said.

I somehow have the feeling that it's one continuous buffet line, and that he constantly gets his underpaid servants to bring in the food while he stuffs his fat a$$.

You can't have too many threads slamming that pig.
But most of the audience loudly booed him.
Everyone was told to keep politics out of the evening. Moore thinks be's above the rules. But actors don't like getting up-staged, and they shouted him down.

Why am I not surprised that a two bit no talent/no class act like Moore would use his less than 15 minutes of undeserved fame to slam the country and the president.
Meanwhile our troops are fighting and dying to give us the privilege to speak our minds even if, as in the case of Moore, there isn't much in his big empty noggin.
Contrast the self-importance and self-aggrandizing of the Hollywood crowd and the people they hand out meaningless awards to with the actions of the real heros who are fighting to uphold the very freedoms that these people so cavalierly accept as their birthright.
As maddening as that thought can be at least this night did highlight how truly superfical and emptyheaded these elitests really are.
That's why I gave Hollywood a pass tonight and watched what is going on in the real world.

No Michael Moore thread is complete without the observation that he is a big fat idiot.

We don't waste money on Hollywood trash.
Whatever the movie, it will eventually be on TV anyway.
Spend your money on a nice dinner instead.

Only in America can a no-talent clown become a millionaire, best- selling author and Academy Award Winner and then be allowed the opportunity to bash the country that feeds him. (and I know whatyou'er all thinking... "It Takes A Country")

He's a fictitious film maker. He's the Leni Reifenstal of the left, making powerful propaganda for the liberals.
