To build on what you said, I sent my daily email to the troops through the Canteen and told them a little about how beautiful it was today here in Kansas, how my hyacinths were coming up, flags flying on the way to the market. I told them how thankful I was for them without whom I would not have this day, this life, this country.

That's neat! It is exactly what the troops need -- they need to know that life goes on back in the States and how much we appreciate what they are doing!

I am sure they really appreciated that. I was going to write letters but I see the DoD suspended the soldier mail program. Makes sense since there's email and loved ones will be trying to send things to their family.
