I'm glad I missed Michael Moore's loser rant. Saradon said some generic drivel about "dialogue to facilitate change" when she was up. Ditto for Barbra about the power of song as a "voice of protest" (or something) that she got applause for. At least Adrian Brody showed some class with his sympathetic message to a soldier in Kuwait, whom he named by name.

Or perhaps they had a change of heart? In any event, I like seeing the old film of their acceptance speeches.

Yup. You know how in a football game the officals will miss a call for whatever reason and on a subsequent play will do a "make-up" call? Nicole Kidman should have won last year hands-down for Moulin Rouge.

Also, Brody's comments were on how his role in The Pianist brought to his mind "the dehuminazation of war", and how he hopes this war can come to a quick peaceful resolution. He was emotional, against the war, yet solemn. And wished for the safe return of a friend figting in Kuwait.
Which is probably why he got a standing ovation...there was no need to make a fool of himself in order to make a statement.

Nelson Rockefeller had a mural done by Diego Rivera, Frida's husband, sandblasted off one of the interior walls of Rockefeller Center in 1933, after Rivera tried to slip Lenin's mug into it. :-)

Whatcha typing? I'm doing something legal and sad. Oh, me too. Bankruptcy petitions. LOL. (I'm a paralegal.)

This looked like one of those "make-up" calls to me too and I am glad!

Steve Martin is great. I loved his intro "this year, it's all abut cleavage." And then the lucky recipient's response: "That's the last time I share a dressing room with Steve Martin."

From London's Evening Standard:
Hollywood celebrities, including two-time Oscar winner Tom Hanks and Ali star Will Smith, announced they would not attend Sunday's 75th Academy Awards. Best Actress nominee Nicole Kidman may also skip the event and designer Georgio Armani has already cancelled a trip to Hollywood to dress the leading actors.
I knew I wasn't dreaming.

I agree. At least his statement I could stomach, unlike Moore's. Then again, Moore is a complete ass.
To: StarFan
Will bet Nicole Kidman is really glad she went!

cool comment by O'Toole thanking the US for all it's given him What a gracious gentleman. The perfect antidote to that wretched Moore.

I'm surprised, too. The man who accepted for Eminem and Jeff (? brain cramp) was very humble and gracious. Moore can learn a few things from him.

How could anyone ever watch "King Tut" and NOT love Steve Martin?
Sigh...those were the good old days...
To: StarFan
I think it was Tom Hanks and Will Smith.

Drudge is saying right now that he saw the whole video tape and the male soldiers had their underwears down and bulletholes in their heads. Maybe this is why Brokaw was crying he is saying also...
