Whoa...I honestly can't believe it. Eminem won.
Don't get me wrong, it is a great song, but I didn't think given the choice, they would have taken Mr. Politically Incorrect over U2 and Paul Simon.

Being presented by Streep who is having trouble ummm reading? I guess too much alar in the apples.
for whoever wants to send a dummy a message:
"I think it's hilarious watching the Right-Wing reactionaries get their panties in a bunch over whatever Michael Moore says. He expresses his own political opinions! Come on loyal Freepers, begin the ad homenien attacks."

There are some people posting on other threads that everybody booed him off stage. I saw it and that is simply not a truthful account of what happened. Michael Moore was definitely booed off the stage. Perhaps it wasn't the actors booing, but they certainly didn't give him much vocal support. Of course, that may have been due to the fact that even the staunchest Hollywood leftists doesn't want that fat, unkempt, hateful slob to be their standard bearer.

I agree with the poster that said they held up applause signs because the orchestra started playing and then the applause started which wasn't very loud. It was obvious that most did not expect him to be so obnoxious! Well CNN just reported that he got loudly booed when he criticized Bush....which is the take I would prefer.
But the booing wasn't loud enough for my taste, and I didn't like how at the end he was applauded.
Even if they did hold up the applause sign.

The thing that really struck me was the LOUD outpouring of "Noooooo, noooooo!" from the audience. Honestly, I wasn't expecting that. Polite - or even enthusiastic - applause...but not that.
Could there be hope, or is it all just the sound of money?

That's a cool story...thanks.

Nevermind politics, all I have to say is that Steve Martin is to comedy what Eric Clapton is to music. He's a frickin' genious!

Martin is indeed the king of one-liners/zingers.

Eee Gads! ...Brody was in a movie made by a pedophile Polansky - the coward and overrated (except for Chinatown) director cheered mightily by Hollywood. I will reserve my outrage for when Polanski wins, if that comes to pass. Brody shouldn't be punished for acting in the movie.
I think that Brody's emotional expressions of hope for peace -- made intensely personal by his reference to friends in Kuwait -- has trumped any further partisan Michael Moore-type outbursts. Note that Dustin Hoffman and Barbra Streisand, both Bush-bashers, followed Brody on stage, but followed the script.

Absolutely agreed. They got one right. Of course, look at what they had to choose from. Easy choice, and the right one. The Bono and the Simon were just recycled singer-songwriter 70s/80s crap that appeals to aging leftist hippies.

Why bother? His views are as set in stone as the Roman Coliseum. Write him off and move on.
