Just heard it was not hostile fire. Another accident not related to hostilities? They said it was on a medi-vac mission.
Is there something terribly flawed with these choppers? It is quite disheartening to hear.

March 23, 2003 is turning into 24 hours of horror. Stay the course America, never FORGET, never give up, never give in. Remember the words of GW Bush. We will NOT tire, we will NOT falter, and we will NOT fail!! My God this is tough to take. I wish I were there!

I swear to God, we've lost more people over there to go**amned chopper crashes than from enemy action.
WHEN are our gloriously ingenious defense contractors going to design a helicopter that can actually work in such sandy conditions? Maybe if we throw more billions at their sorry asses????
This just pisses me off. What a waste of some terrific young people due to shi**y design...........

Hey Freepers, this is war and somebody once said it better than I can: war is Hell.
We are committed.
Our cause is righteous.
May each sacrifice make us more resolute and determined to walk the rough road to Victory.

I've never liked helicopters. They are generally the source of more accidents than any other form of miltary equipment. With tankbusters available, faster, more maneuverable, and less susceptible to high winds, I cannot understand why we place troops in harm's way, in helicopters. Blackhawk down is becoming an oxymoron.
