I apologize for this vanity post, my first.
But I think Drudge overstepped the boundaries of decency by publishing on his front page a picture from Al Jazeera, showing what is purported to be a picture of an American POW.
The Washington Post has an article on it, in case anyone is not familiar with what happened. So far all American Media has refrained from showing pictures of the Al Jazeera video. For Drudge to put up a picture reduces him to well, I rather not say.

We didn't get a photograph of Clinton and Monica. Facts are one thing, pictures another.
To: StopDemocratsDotCom
It is not censorship. Exposing pictures of POW's for propaganda purposes is a violation of the Geneva Convention. If we condem Iraq and Ai-Jezera how is Drudge any different? Is "good" propaganda OK and bad propaganda not. Either way it is extremly bad taste.

no.
those pictures must be seen. by everyone. maybe even when not expecting it.
we're asking our soldiers to endure far worse than looking at pictures. to turn away from images that show us the nature of our enemy is cowardice.
i would have thought better of freepers. we're generally not in the "don't offend our delicate sensibilities" crowd.

I disagree, it's just like after 9-11 when the media refused to show images of people jumping and video from the scene. People will forget and not realize the terror that we're fighting.
To: RAT Patrol
We know, we see. But if not now, they'll use this propaganda later. They had it ready to go, it is likely a leftover picture from something else.

Just ask yourself this:
If you were a soldier that had been killed in combat, would you want images of your body plastered up on DrudgeReport? Of course not. It's indignant and hurtful to the families.

CNN just showed this picture and released the first names as well as the state that some of the prisoners were from. IMO this is not appropriate.

The soldier's face cannot be made out. I don't think he would have posted it otherwise.
This needs to be scene. The war crimes of the Iraqis must not be hidden!! I think sanitizing it is a bigger disservice to their ultimate sacrifice. As long as the victim is not identifiable, it's appropriate.
To: RobFromGa
I was already outraged at the Iraqis for doing this WITHOUT seeing the Drudge picture. I think drudge would have been WRONG to post a link, but showing the picture without warning is appalling.
To: calljack
Killing POWs is much more of a problem than showing pictures of their dead bodies after they are killed.
They killed these people, and we should be outraged about that. Not about the killings being made public.

With all due respect, I disagree. I think that every single network and cable news program who have been moaning and bitching about the "Iraqi" casualties should be forced to play the tape over and over again. This is what Saddam has been doing to his people, and now to our troops, for the past 20 years. Let the tape play and force all of those hypocritical peaceniks to watch it over and over and over again. This is the regime they are protecting. This is the conduct they are approving of when they protest. Just like those heart-wrenching pictures of people jumping, JUMPING, from the WTC, let the entire world see what "Islamic" peace and justice is really about. And for my own personal tastes, I say NUKE the damn country and get it over with. Any protestors to that, then we'll send them to Baghdad before we unleash the nukes.

The picture is degrading to a U.S. soldier who made the ultimate sacrifice. Why can't you see that? Who said I can't see that? Do you always go about making presumptions about what other people think?
Also, to the other poster ("ican'tbelieveit"): How do we know the families haven't been notified?

why are you for censorship?
Can you say "decency"? Can you say "respect for a fallen hero"? How about "common sense"? [It's so easy to raise the "censorship" bogeyman.]

It is NOT my sensibilities I'm concerned with in this case. It is about RESPECT for our soldiers. Ask a soldier and his family what they think.
To: HARD ATTACK 51
What do you expect from a guy who exposed the President for getting a Hummer..... Think about it.
Yes, both are examples of Extreme Depravity.
Think about it...
