Posted on 03/20/2003 7:04:48 AM PST by ctdonath2
The point of this thread is to consolidate reports & links showing Iraqi use of arms prohibited by the Gulf War surrender treaty and UN resolutions, providing proof against the anti-war crowd that Iraq is violating UN resolutions and that inspections were not working.

Reportedly, the first weapon fired by Iraq was a prohibited SCUD missile.

Perhaps they have found a novel way to disarm and get rid of their missles, by shooting them at Kuwait.

What? You mean to tell me that Saddam is not the honorable person that France, Germany, Mexico and China say he is? Un believable! Shocking!

Fox News is proof? People want so desperately to be right that they will believe anything they hear.

the first weapon fired by Iraq was a prohibited SCUD missile. Question; are SCUDs prohibited?

It's a start. Feel free to provide better evidence either way.

Isn't it that the SCUD could only go less than 90 kilometers? I'm not sure.

I'm sure that SCUD attack didn't happen, because so many honorable people in places like France have assured us that Saddam already got rid of all his prohibited weapons.

I am waiting to hear what the "small plane" that crashed at the Kuwait/Iraq border was equipped to do. Was it a drone? and was it to drop a bomb or provide chemical spray. I would hope that they would do the recon on that crash today or real soon.

It's a matter of the "Range" that the SCUD's and Al Samoud II's had to travel to hit Kuwait.

Are you an anti war person? Even if you are, you are correct.
I am pro-Bush, but I agree with you that too many here are 'knee-jerk' pro-Bush supporters, no loger critical of reprts that would be questioned if they were about Xlintoon.
But then again, I feel I can trust Bush...

"When chief United Nations weapons inspector Hans Blix delivered his first report to the Security Council at the end of January, he drew attention to two Iraqi missile programmes, the al-Samoud Two and the al-Fatah.
Both of these, he said, had been tested to ranges in excess of the permitted 150 kilometres (93 miles)."

Blix is spinning hard....U.S. didn't have the patience to wait.

I've heard references to that plane, but haven't seen any real news reports. Post 'em if you find 'em.

No doubt in my mind that Iraq has SCUDs, but I wonder if they would use them against Kuwait that is so close.
Its possible they WOULD, if they were going to lose them anyway and/or the SCUDs were already set up for a "special" warheat...
More likely is they would reserve the SCUDS to use against Israel or the Saudis...

providing proof against the anti-war crowd that Iraq is violating UN resolutions and that inspections were not working. Oh no, you have it backwards. See, the efficient inspectors were forced out by the mean Americans. Saddam found some SCUDS that were accidently forgotten (like I found change between the couch cushions). With no inspectors present, he is only trying to demonstrate the destruction of the forbidden weapons to comply with the UN.
