They're calling them "gas sirens" now. They've gone back to the folks in the studio.

That mask won't do him a whole lot of good when he's sitting there in a button down shirt. At least he rolled his sleeves down.

He said he was going to go off camera and put on his gas suit. Well now there showing it.

Showing Ollie suiting up live on the air - brings back memories.
An ecstasy of fumbling

But they can't be chemical/bio weapons! The Iraqis said they don't have any!

MSNBC said that Kuwait was testing its system.
CNN says it's "all clear."

You seem to have some insights into "these kind of things". Does this seem to to you like the level of onslaught Saddam would unleash given the fact that we made a pretty brazen attempt to kill him 6 hours ago? It seems that a half dozen or so SCUDS have been let loose thus far ... which seems to be a haphazard response to what we did hours ago. Do you think we could have hit some of the leadership, and this is the disorganized response of lower level commanders? I would have wagered Saddam would have let the hounds of hell loose - at Israel, the Kurds, the Turks as well as us - if we had missed him and he were in control of a real arsenal. Or should I just go to bed? ;^)

Active duty Marine with Ollie North reports an impact ten miles to the west (I believe he said to the west), which is why they're in MOPP.

AP is reporting American Patriot missiles shot down the Scud.

My own opinion?
Hell is sitting at Saddam's borders, and he's launched a couple Scuds/Al Samouds, fired a couple artillery shells, and several thousand rounds of anti-aircraft - and as of right now, that's all.
You're right, this is a very disorganized response. Whether it's because leadership has been knocked out - I don't know. I'm kind of wondering if it may be that the lower echelon is refusing orders, instead of just not getting them.

This is the fog of war in real time.

I'm kind of wondering if it may be that the lower echelon is refusing orders, instead of just not getting them. When I heard that they F-117s dropped those one ton bunker busters (GDU-24?), I was shocked. Those require laser "painting", don't they? If so, that's a pretty good sign that we had some CIA mole or a Delta Force guy on location to identify the presence of Saddam or "those frisky young boys" of his in order to guide that mofo.
Tomorrow is going to be a big, big day. The "leadership target" attack was a bold gambit that would never have been undertaken, IMO, unless the War team in the White House had pretty good intelligence that bad guys were in the house. I hope we blew them all to smithereens.
