I just checked breaking news, I guess FR admins are going to throw up their hands on this one.

"Are you looking at Fox? They should have left Ollie North at home, he is a little too old for this. He is not in shape."

I disagree 100%.

As I watched various news channels last night, I though having Ollie as an "embedded" reporter with Marines in Kuwait was a brilliant idea for Fox.

I imagine he'll be more trusted and confided in than any other journalist on the front line--and we Fox News viewers will be the better for it because of the candid info he'll likely get from "his" Marines.

Who is a jarhead gonna trust more: the Lt. Col or some ditz who only dons her gas mask during a chem attack alert and asks questions like, "What's an MRE?"

Yes--hi, Texkat. Loonball here kept me up half the night posting and e-mailing. I was surprised to find her up. She was trying to explain to me some of the linguistic concepts involved in trying to analyze the writings of that crazy Mitchell and his equally crazy father. Very interesting.

Now, lol, I have to get to work! I'm tired already!

The journalists on the front line have been trained by our troops, so if they are ill prepared it reflects badly upon us.

We used to a have a saying-"You can pour the water of knowledge on rock, but all you get is wet rock."

Reported on Fox and Friends that there had been three or four alarms already. Trying to find and check the scud fragments to verify chem components.

Well, to be perfectly honest I think the observation was completely wrong. There was an initial moc up in full suits and the reporter was fully suited as well. The second alert was only level 1 mask only. If the reporter failed to suit up that would be entirely her fault. My point was that the comment suggested that she didn't know to get suited up and I think that premise is totally false. The reporters not only have to learn how to suit up they must prove that they can. I just think the original observation was both faulty and illogical. Whom do you think would get the blame if a reporter died because she didn't know enough to get suited?

Ok, I wasn't watching the broadcast and didn't realize there were different levels of alert involved here, so maybe the original post was uncalled for.

But I still love the saying "You can pour the water of knowledge on rock, but all you get is wet rock."
