Another Parador bump. And I still have a lot of respect for Dreyfuss for that great essay he wrote about Charlton Heston when Heston revealed his Alzheimers.

Alright, it appears that it was taped.
Why in the heck does Saddam not look like Saddam though??? Why would have have a body double tape a speech prerecorded days ago....it makes no sense to me why Saddam would have somebody else tape this speech.

I am still convinced that the "information" the US received about the Iraqi leadership's location was unreliable, maybe to get us to kill civilians in their homes.

Sounded stilted, even allowing for translation. It may have been coded instructions to his more loyal minions.

Transmitter up because it suits us for it to be up? Tracking the signal sources?

Perhaps it was taped right before the broadcast and delivered to the TV Station. Perhaps the body Double was told by one of the surviving Iraqui Leaders to make the tape.
One thing I noticed was a complete and total lack of emotion in "Saddam's" speech. It was certainly not the emotion one would expect of a tinpot dictator who had just survived a massive assasination attempt. I think most dictators would be red-faced and screaming instead of deadpan and emotionless.
If that was the real "live" Saddam, then I am the real "live" Philip Marlowe.

Perhaps the body Double was told by one of the surviving Iraqui Leaders to make the tape They are probably not sure if Saddam is alive or not, so they did what they had been ordered to do in the event of an attack. Either have one of the doubles make this tape, or (more likely) put out a pre-recorded message, perhaps modified as best they could to fit the stitutation.

also read this somewhere...
"One tip-off is that when a double appears, there is a blank wall behind him. There is never a picture of the real Saddam Hussein in the background behind the double."

Just occurred to me... if this hit on Saddam was successful, what do you think Kim Jong-Il will be thinking?
