DEBKAfile’s military sources report persistent rumor that two leading powerbrokers of Saddam’s regime have fled Baghdad: deputy prime minister Tareq Aziz, who is thought to be hiding in Kurdistan in northern Iraq, and vice president Taha Yassin Ramadan who has not been seen for three days.

Aziz was conspicously left off the list of several hundred potential Iraqi War Criminals from our State/Defense Department issued earlier this week.

The cover story was that Aziz, although closely aligned with the regime, has never been involved in the operational side of Saddam's Regime.

The real story lies in that Aziz is the most western of the regime and is easily moldable into a figurehead for a new Iraq.....ala Brezinski....
