Of COURSE they will assist!

Do you know why? To wipe away ALL their fingerprints. See:

How do these guys fight, anyway? Do they throw croissants and snails at the enemy?

Every time I hear a report that Iraqi troops are surrendering before the action starts, I say to myself: They must have been trained by the French!

Actually, that could be the reason the French are volunteering to come along.... no one to shoot back.

"France would 'assess the measures of assistance to take' in a spirit of friendship and solidarity."

French double-speak for: OH NO! we must go in and erase "Made in France" from those bio-weapons before we are found out! Maybe we should pretend we are helping after an attack; it would be the perfect cover.

"In the event that American forces or those allied to them should face a new situation such as a chemical or biological attack, France would assess the measures of assistance to take in a spirit of friendship and solidarity."

Notice that he didn't say which side they would assist.

We can only hope that they help the Iraqis. The French expertise in surrendering could be useful.

France will fight.

(Translation: They will show up in spiffy uniforms for the victory celebration, award themselves a hat full of medals and then demand that the Americans leave so they can loot the country in peace.)

Tell the damn french to back off. We don't need, nor do we want their help. They just want to spy for Iraq. By the way tell them to pick up their statue on Ellis Island when they leave

Don't want them, won't ask them, won't need them and most of all, won't let them!

And we could not understand them either, both the language and their cowardice

BTW, I just looked up that word on http://www.hyperdictionary.com/dictionary/cowardice and the definition is:

From Webster's Revised Unabridged Dictionary (1913) [web1913]

Cowardice \Cow"ard*ice\ (-[i^]s), n. [F. couardise, fr. couard.
See {Coward}.]
Want of courage to face danger; extreme timidity; pusillanimity; base fear of danger or hurt; lack of spirit.

Cowardice is a word with FRENCH origins!!!

Reminds me of the story of the Little Red Hen. Everyone wants to eat the bread after it's baked. No one wants to bake it.

We can only hope that they help the Iraqis.

Isn't that what they have been doing for the last 20 years?

...WMDs are now MORE likely to be used

I agree and I have a bad feeling about this. This is just such a weird announcement, even for the french. It's almost like the french are giving Saddam a prearranged signal to use WMDs.

The French always take the winning side... <sarcasm They're not getting on board out of principle. Heck, we need friends like them like we need enemies.

It's almost like the french are giving Saddam a prearranged signal to use WMDs.

They are announcing on the news now that Saddam has told his troups to use the chemical weapons (that everyone says he didn't have) without waiting for instructions from their commanders... which would indicate to me that he suspect there might not be a commander in charge of some groups?
