Iraqi Foreign Minister: American Soldiers Captured in Iraq to Be Burnt or Beheaded

BAGHDAD, March 18. Iraqi President Saddam Hussein has no intention of carrying out the demands made by US President George Bush in his recent ultimatum. As a Rosbalt correspondent reports, this was announced by Iraqi Foreign Minister Naji Sabri at a press conference in Baghdad today.

He said that the Iraqi people 'elected Mr Hussein as their leader' and they will lead a fierce struggle against the aggressors under his command. The Iraqi foreign minister added that a horrific death awaits any Americans captured on Iraqi territory. 'They will be burnt or beheaded,' said Mr Sabri.

US President George Bush made an ultimatum to Mr Hussein, giving him and his sons 48 hours to leave the country. If these demands are not carried out, the American army will attack Iraq. The deadline of the ultimatum is Wednesday evening.

How do you behead someone when you are already dead?

Uh huh. This guy is a war criminal. If the Iraqis do this to captured POWs, they'll wish they had never been born.

'They will be burnt or beheaded,' said Mr Sabri.

But, but, but, that's against international treaty! Wait until the French hear about this! (sarcasm)

Welcome to FR today!

How fortunate for the Iraqi desserters & POW's, that they will be greeted with food, water, shelter, and health checks. Therein lies the difference between the U.S. and the uncivilized likes of Saddam.

I hope it is made very clear to Iraqis soldiers that they will die if they treat American POW's this way! The Iraqis are truly disgusting!

'They will be burnt or beheaded,' said Mr Sabri.

Even Nazi Germany respected the Geneva Convention.

It's a good thing the President and Prime Minister have a cooler temper than I do. My threat right back would have been - if you seriously endorse such a policy among your commanders, we will send Royal and American Marines to your house, Mr. Foreign Minister, to rip your heart out of your chest and hold it up in front of your eyes as the life drains out of you.

Regards, Ivan

Not really. The Nazis massacred our troops when they were captured. They were subject to war crimes trials. I wouldn't be surprised to see Saddam's criminal regime go out just as it came in with hands stained full of innocent blood.

LOL! What a funny threat.

(Many) Arabs always talk big and bad, but then they flee like terrified French schoolgirls when you really go after them. We've learned this with al Qaida.

Their only terror target are the weak and unprotected. Measly chickens.

The only one due for a 'burning' or a 'beheading' will be Saddam and Sons.

Every Iraqi soldier killed should be wrapped in pig skin when buried. Every Iraqi officer captured should be confined to prisons with female guards and gay inmates. Let the Kurds execute Hussein and his sons, and the executions should be broadcast on television. Hang signs on each that state "French collaborators."

It's not funny. That they dare to threaten our soldiers in such a way is intolerable. The Foreign Minister should be killed as a warning to anyone else who even thinks this way.

All of this assumes that the Iraqis could capture a single allied soldier. I have my doubts.
