March 18 VATICAN CITY (Reuters) - The Vatican said Tuesday that countries which decided to wage war on Iraq without the consensus of the international community were assuming great responsibility before God and history.
"Those who decide that all peaceful means that international law makes available are exhausted assume a grave responsibility before God, their conscience and history," said Vatican spokesman Joaquin Navarro-Valls.
Navarro-Valls comment was the Vatican's first official reaction to Washington's ultimatum to Iraqi President Saddam Hussein to go into exile within 48 hours or face war.

Of course we're responsible before God.
And so are those who claim to be friends, yet stand by doing nothing after 3000 of their friend's citizens are murdered.

And yet the Vatican can ignore the gassing of the Kurds in Diogenesis' post. Where's the moral condemnation of that--and the hideous brutality of Saddam's regime?

The Pope. The hypocrit:
"Pray for peace, rail against the peace keepers."

Isn't selective outrage ever so convenient? Oh well; what do you expect from a church that has been getting it wrong since before the Reformation?

Didn't you get the memo? You can only condemn or people who aren't in the German/French/Vatican Axis of Weasels.

The Vatican said Tuesday that countries which decided to wage war on Iraq without the consensus of the international community were assuming great responsibility before God and history. Regime change, cleansing of the soul, renewal of ones faith, rededicate ones self to GOD, nothing will help this ancient unchangable power broker but a complete change in structure from the top down and a committment to the 2nd half of the good Book.

God loves the little appeasers.
All the appeasers of the war.
Yellow, black and white.
Communists and socialists of every stripe.
God loves the little appeasers of the war.

Much the same way the Vatican will answer for it's atrocities, such as complicity in the Holocaust.

Thanks for repeating the lies and slander of yellow gossip columnists like John Cornwell, Jorge.
Lying is a sin, by the way.
The Pope is a great man, CROSSHIGHWAYMAN. He has done more good in this world than anyone on this thread has, I can assure you.
The Pope's comment is fair and just: we are taking a chance. We are putting the lives of our brave troops on the line and setting a dangerous chain of events in motion.
I believe we are justified in so doing and that President Bush is doing the right and necessary thing.
But I also believe that we are accountable for our actions and that we have to be prepared for the consequences.

God will judge those who call good bad, and bad good. The U.S. should stop? Saddam should continue? Even the Pope has lost his way.
