By Associated Press, 3/17/2003 22:55 MEXICO CITY (AP) President Vicente Fox said Monday he ''regrets'' the Iraq conflict appeared headed for war but insisted that Mexico's opposition to military action would not strain important relations with Washington.

''Our relationship with the United States our closest partner, neighbor, and friend should not change"

Translation: let us keep sending you a gozillion illegals per month that your tax dollars pay to house, feed, educate, and give health services to.

TROOPS ON THE BORDER. NOW.

Good. Maybe now we can convinve the American people that Mexico is not out friend and that we should deport all illegals and build a Wall along the border, outlined with motion-activated Napalm trenches.

which accounts for about 75 percent of Mexico's trade.

Not any more.

Besides, we needed a good excuse to tell Mexico why we've sealed our borders to keep illegals out. (I wish!)

"Mexico is steadily looking more and more like little more than a dirt poor neighbor with its hands in our cookie jar.......and spitting on our kitchen floor when we're not looking."

Agree...

This is getting downright spooky. Who would have thunk that our two boardering neighbors would turn their backs on us in our time of need? How can anyone condemn us for protecting our own and the world from a tyrant willing to use WOMD and collude with terrorists, especially after 9/11? Our morality, motives and sovereignty are being questioned by former allies. There is something very sinister going on in this big bad world and it scares me to death. Seems the paradigm has definitely shifted and what was once good, is now considered evil... and vice versa.

I honestly don't know why anyone would want to be President, but I'm sure as hell glad that Bush and his team are there during this critical time. We all need to pray for our President, his administration and our military more than ever.

Do you know why only 6,000 Mexicans attacked the Alamo?
They only had two cars!

Gee, that was rude.

I agree with your sentiments. However more than 'this getting spooky'- I think it is indicative of the world view that is becoming clearer through the pending war. It IS about evil regimes and greed, envy etc.. Mexico is all about greed and envy. I for one will not be buying anything I can identify as being made in Mexico. It's time to seal the borders of Canada and Mexico. It will be up to the citizens of American to put pressure on our congress to take action against the allies who turned their back on us. Let the payback begin!

It was Sherman according to my 1939 copy of Bartlett's Familiar Quotations. Many interesting quotations that were widely known in my youth ('50's-60's) can be found there but not in the new editions, including the famous quote The only good Indians I ever saw were dead -- how many people know that was Gen. Philip Sheridan in 1869.

BETTER YET:  FReep the U.S. State Department and Make them enforce the 1944 Water Treaty Mexico has failed to live up to!  Mexico has been withholding water it owes the U.S. under this treaty and growing high water-consuming vegetables upstream in Chihuahua, while Texas farmers in the lower Rio Grande Valley have had no crops due to the lack of water.  Make the State Department do their job!!!

Why email the consulate? Your problem is in D.C. with a two party system both holding the exact same no border agenda.

I think we should send Fox a present for his intransigence: 5 million Mexicans currently living (illegally) in the U.S.
