The tyrant will soon be gone. With those words, President Bush left no doubt with Saddam Hussein or with the world that the years of a brutal dictatorship in Iraq will soon be over. In an address to the American people, and to the Iraqi people, Bush reiterated the many steps for diplomacy and peace that the United States and her allies have followed in the past 12 years- to no avail. The President told the Iraqis that their liberation is near and warned any Iraqi soldiers to think twice before releasing chemical or biological weapons. Bush also issued warnings to any terrorists that, 'If our enemies dare to strike us, they and all who have aided them, will face fearful consequences.' Earlier in the day, Bush met with congressional leaders and outlined tonights speech, and ultimately prepared them for military conflict. Enjoy your daily dose of Dubya! I know I will.

Good evening all. Thanks for the summary! Our President was forceful and to the point tonight. God bless him. The next 48 hours need to be bathed in prayer. This is the time to pray w/o ceasing for protection for our troops.

5. The tyrant will soon be gone. The day of your liberation is near.
Amen. And we'll all be safer for having done so.

Evan Bayh was just on O'Reilly agreeing and agreeing with President Bush. He almost made sense and since he's a democrat, that's pretty remarkable.
Can you believe tommy daschle? Oh, that man is wicked.

President Bush gave a brilliant speech to our country tonight. I think that he knew that the UN and France and all those pathetic little countries would behave as they did and used the time, not only to get the troops in place but also to give the world an object lesson on the uselessness of the UN.

This is the face of a leader. Tonight was an example of how a real man handles a crisis. Was W "on" tonight or what? I have never been so proud of him.

Magnificent speech! I especially liked the part where he said "we are a peaceful people, but not fragile."
So, everybody, stiffen those spines ...there's a war on!

It appears George W. Bush has returned the favor to our great friend Tony Blair by giving diplomacy a chance. Reports are saying that support for removing Saddam by force are climbing very fast and so is Tony Blairs approval ratings.
No one can say that they didn't give diplomacy a chance and the reason it didn't work was not the "Coalition of the brave's" fault, it was France's fault

Amazing speech - both DH and I cried through the part about *the hour of your liberation is near*. Help is on the way, Iraq, help is coming.
God generously bless those wearing our nation's uniforms, and our Commander in Chief.

Lawrence Eagleburger on Fox has just called what Jimmy Carter has been doing for the past months dispictable...also called France a pipsqueek state and that it was time for the dems to shut up when we are this close to war with troops in harms way!!! The speech light a fire under him!
To: rintense
Great speech from a great president. Lawrence Eagleberger on Hannity and Colmes now just said that what Jimmy Carter did prior to the Gulf WarI and for weeks now is "DESPICABLE."

Then, he went on to call the French a "pipsqueak" country.

President Bush's speech was truly historical. My husband and I were in awe of the words, meanings and intent. Clear and full of meaning. :o)

6. The power and appeal of human liberty is felt in every life and every land. And the greatest power of freedom is to overcome hatred and violence, and turn the creative gifts of men and women to the pursuits of peace.

Well, the Republican commentators are taking off the gloves. Newt Gingrich said the French government was "malicious."

Sure wish this guy had been my Commander-in-Chief. I got stuck with JFK and LBJ.

It was France's fault but also Sadaam Hussein. He was not exactly cooperative. Sadaam's behavior was to be expected. France's, however, suggest something sinister. I still think Chirac is hiding something. He's been borderline hysterical. Actually, Krauthammer had a good article about it. His basic thesis was that France's objective is to stymie the US and thereby gain global stature. Oops...wrong guy in the White House. France miscalculated.
