BLAME AMERICA FIRST? ON THE EVE OF WAR, DASCHLE TRIES TO GAIN PARTISAN ADVANTAGE

With American Troops Poised To Fight, Daschle Blames Potential War Casualties On President Bush

__________________________________________________________________________________________________

SENATOR TOM DASCHLE: “I’m Saddened, Saddened That This President Failed So Miserably At Diplomacy That We’re Now Forced To War. Saddened That We Have To Give Up One Life Because This President Couldn’t Create The Kind Of Diplomatic Effort That Was So Critical For Our Country.” (Senator Tom Daschle, Remarks At International Association Of Firefighters Conference, 3/17/03)

__________________________________________________________________________________________________

BEFORE LAST NOVEMBER’S ELECTION, DASCHLE SUPPORTED USE OF FORCE IN IRAQ AND RECOILED AT POLITICIZING DEBATE

Senator Daschle Voted For The Resolution “To Authorize The Use Of United States Armed Forces Against Iraq” Last October. (H. J. Res. 114, Roll Call #237: Passed 77-23: R 48-1; D 29-21; I 0-1, 10/11/02, With Daschle Voting Yea.)

Last Fall, Daschle Decried “Accusations” Over “National Security.” “We ought not politicize this war. We ought not politicize the rhetoric about war and life and death. … We have to rise to a higher level. … [I]t is not too late to forget the pollsters . . . the campaign fundraisers . . . [the] accusations about how interested in national security,” different parties are. (Senator Tom Daschle, Congressional Record, 9/25/02)

Daschle Said “Never Once” Did He Politicize The War In Iraq In 1991-92, And Hoped We Would Have the “Same Level Of Debate This Time.” “I can recall in 1991 and 1992 … when President Bush made the decision he did. I can recall several of my staff coming to me, suggesting that we say this or that. But never once did I have someone on my staff … refer to the politics of the war with Iraq. … We need that same level of debate this time …” (Senator Tom Daschle, Congressional Record, 9/25/02)

IN 1998, DASCHLE SUPPORTED USE OF FORCE IN IRAQ AND CALLED FOR BIPARTISANSHIP

Daschle Recognized That “Saddam Hussein Leaves Us Little Choice” But “The Use Of Force.” “[C]learly the intransigence on the part of the Iraqi government and Saddam Hussein leaves us little choice at this point … So I would think that, if nothing changes, the use of force at some point would be inevitable.” (William Neikirk, “Congress Talks Tough On Iraq,” Chicago Tribune, 2/5/98)

Daschle Wanted A “United” And “Bipartisan” Message That “Iraq Must Comply.” “Iraq must comply. There is no choice. We stand united in our determination to do whatever is necessary … The United States has the resolve to ensure that compliance and we stand united today in an effort to articulate that very clear message as loudly, as unequivocally, and in as much of a bipartisan way as we can.” (Senator Tom Daschle, Congressional Record, 2/12/98)

Daschle Called For “Immediate Iraqi Compliance” Or “Threat By Force” Would Be “Required.” “[A]bsent immediate Iraqi compliance … the security threat doesn’t simply persist – it worsens. Saddam Hussein must understand that the United States has the resolve to reverse that threat by force, if force is required.” (Senator Tom Daschle, Congressional Record, 2/12/98)

SO WHY, ON THE EVE OF WAR, HAS DASCHLE CHANGED HIS TUNE?

That's great! Daschle is not going to have a good day tomorrow which makes me smile! He deserves to not only be lamblasted but also needs to get the same kind of adverse media attention that Lott received (and I am not a Lott fan but what the media did was not right!). I am not holding my breathe though!

Gee, where are the good people of South Dakota? Will they not stand up to repudiate what this man is saying in their name? Or any non-ideologue Democrats care to rise and denounce his words?

From BSNN Nathan Porters site

Tom Daschle: Man or Midget?

A few weeks ago, The Hotline reported that in an effort to make him appear taller, aides to Senator Tom Daschle had begun stacking phone books in his chair when he and Dick Gephardt held joint news conferences in which they both were seated behind a conference table. "Nahh...Daschle couldn't be that short," I thought. I always knew Daschle to be a small man, but I had never given much thought to his physical stature. So, intrepid cyber-journalist that I am, I conducted a little investigation to find out just how short Tom Daschle really is, and the results are astounding. All of these photos were found at Tom Daschle's website (which, incidentally, is just as lame as he is) and other than adjusting their size, none of the photos have been digitally altered in any way. I SWEAR!

It is interesting to note that in this photo, Tom is standing a foot closer to the camera than anyone else, and he still looks like a toy poodle.

This young female South Dakotan is probably 15 (16 tops), yet Daschle can look her in the eyes. We can't see their feet in this photo, and I'm betting the reason is because Tom is standing on the D.C. Yellow Pages.

This photo is interesting because the young lady appears to be purposefully slouching and bending at the knees to make Tom look taller. I guess someone else must have been using the phone book that day.

This picture makes Tom look like an underdeveloped 8th grader posing with his date for the school dance and her father.

Yet another example of Daschle towering under a teenager. There are three things that never change in all of these photos: Tom's unusual lack of height, those hideous paintings of cows on the walls, and the amazing consistency of Tom's "smiling for the camera" pose. I guess it is true that reptiles have only one facial expression.

This photo goes to show that Tom is not only short, but he is thin as a rail, too. I could knock this guy down by breathing on him.

I'm not sure I've ever been as disgusted with a politician as I am with Daschle on the eve of this war, and that's saying something.

I think Daschle is a closet Homosexual. He speaks like a panzy all the time! maybe that is why he is really mad at Bush. GWB is the type of guy Daschle wishes he could be. I am still very mad at him attacking our president when were about to be in a full scale war.

Yeah, I saw what the smarmy little pipsqueak said. I'd pay money to get to slap that "concerned" look off of his face!

The more I think about what daschle said today, the more angry I become. I really hope some South Dakota freepers find this thread and decide to help us go after daschle in his home state. He is dispicable and the liberal media gave him a complete pass. WE ON FR SHOULD NOT!

And if our diplomacy had succeeded (in having the UN vote another resolution), we'd still be going to war!
So, what's the difference, Tom?

He'd find something else to *itch about .. If I recall the Dems all said that we should follow Powell's lead, that he was level headed .. but when Powell said he agreed with the President .. They all turned on him
