Deuteronomy 31: 6
Be strong and of good courage,
do not fear nor be afraid of them;
for the Lord your God, He is the One who goes with you.
He will not leave you nor forsake you.
As our nation stands on the brink of war, we turn our eyes to You, the source of our strength. You are the Rock---the sure foundation---the One who never changes. And though all around us our world may fall into disarray and confusion; yet You remain our strong tower. We thank You that You are sovereign over the kingdoms of all people. We bless You, O Most High, and we praise and honor You, the One who lives forever. We thank You that You are the same God who came to the defense of our ancestors. We thank You that You are the God who has blessed America throughout the years. We thank You for being our one, true hope for years to come.
Father, You are Lord our God, who teaches us what is best for us, who leads us in the way we should go. We ask that You would lead President Bush in the way he should go, especially as he makes decisions that will affect the course of history. Place Your desires in his heart and help him to be committed to doing Your will. Let every decision he makes be the result of his leading by the Spirit. Father, fill him with wisdom from above that comes straight from Your mind. Help him to seek Your assurance and give him the power to discern the voice of our Saviour, who is the source of all truth.
Father, You have said, Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. We humbly ask You to carry the burden of the war decision for President Bush, Vice-President Cheney, Tony Blair, and other allies. Guide all those who are involved in Americas response toward terrorism and the Iraqi leadership. At days end, we pray that You would help President Bush to lay his burdens at the foot of the cross, that he may receive rest and renewal each night. Inhabit his sleep with thoughts of Your will, and supply all of his needs according to Your riches in glory through Christ Jesus. Protect him and his family, Father, and all in our homeland from the blood-stained hands of those who answer the devils call.
Father, we commit our military troops to You, knowing that Your right hand will uphold them. Help them to be strong and of good courage. Let them not fear, for You the Lord, our God will go with them. We take refuge in You, Father, and we place each one of our brave soldiers in Your arms. We pray also for Your hand of protection to cover all the innocent Iraqi people. Help them, Father, to live to enjoy new freedoms in their lives, and most of all, to learn of Your love and Your truth.
Convict each of us to be ready for the return of our Saviour, for You will come as a thief in the night. Let us watch, therefore, for we do not know the day or the hour of Your coming. Help us to keep our eyes lifted to You until that glorious day. In the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord, we pray. Amen.
By the light of burning martyrs, Jesus bleeding feet I track,
Toiling up new Calvaries ever With the cross that turns not back;
New occasions teach new duties, Time make ancient good uncouth;
They must upward still and onward, Who would keep abreast of truth.
Though the cause of evil prosper, Yet 'tis truth alone is strong;
Truth forever on the scaffold, Wrong forever on the throne,
Yet that scaffold sways the future, And behind the dim unknown,
Standeth God wintin the shadow Keeping watch above His own.
Father, we thank You today that You hold the future, and are keeping watch over us, and over our President, who is, indeed, Your own. We thank You that, in this battle of truth against falsehood, that our President stands firmly on the side of Your truth.
As nations tomorrow must decide between good and evil, we ask that You speak to their leaders, and prompt them to side with good, and if they do not, continue to give us, our President, and those who side with the cause of good, the courage to fight with strength and persistence.
Bless and protect our President and his family, and give them peace. Bless and protect our troops on the eve of battle, and infuse them with Your strength and power. And bless and protect our nation, placing a shield over it. In the strong name of Christ, the Messiah, we pray. Amen.
LET US PRAY BEF0RE IT STARTS
Romans 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.
Subject: PRAY BEFORE IT STARTS A torch has been lit today to be passed along to your e-mail friends...asking them to pass it along....and along....and along. We can do something about the threat of war; both in Iraq and with terrorists. In the Old Testament, God's armies were always led by the priests. When the waters parted in the Jordan, it was the priests' feet which first hit the turbulent river. In the New Testament, Christians are also referred to as priests...all Christians.
We must, therefore, go in first.
As the possibility of war approaches with Hussein and Iraq, we are asking the priests to step in first.....ahead of our military. Let us be setting up camp for our soldiers' entrance into the conflict. How? By prayer.
Let us be sending in "prayer missiles," "cruise and scud prayers" to target enemy plans. "Patriot prayers" to shoot down incoming threats.
We should be praying for two things: (1) that the enemy leaders become confused, disoriented, and distrustful of each other; that their entire system of attack fall apart, and (2) that in God's wildest ways, these enemies would become aware of His deep love for them and the war Jesus has already fought for them, personally, on the cross. God had Gideon reduce his army from 32,000 to 300 men. He then equipped them with nothing but trumpets, pitchers, and torches. What an odd combination to fight off well-armed soldiers. When Gideon gave the command, the Bible says the enemy fled crying and turned on each other....all because God messed with enemy plans.
Prayers were started for this about a month ago. On CNN last weekend a report came out that although Hussein has nothing to lose, his generals do.
Is confusion beginning to develop? Please pray for God to set the stage for defeat of all those who intend to do harm. When our men and women of uniform arrive on the scene, may they be surprised at how God had camp set up before they ever got there.
Would you please do two things?
(1) pray, and (2) pass this along to those you know will pray.
May we build an e-mail army of over a million in force...beginning with you.
O Holy Spirit, we are here before you conscious of our many sins, but united in a special way in Your holy name. Come and abide with us, and deign to penetrate our hearts. Be the guide of our actions, indicate the path we should follow and show us what we must do, so that, with Your help, our work may be wholly pleasing to You. May You be our only inspiration and the overseer of our intentions, for You alone possess a glorious name with the Father and the Son. May You, Who are infinite justice, never permit us to be disturbers of justice. Let not our ignorance induce us to evil, nor flattery sway us, nor moral and material interest corrupt us. Unite our hearts to You alone, and do it strongly, so that with the gift of Your grace we may be one in You and may in nothing depart from the truth. Thus, united in Your name, may we in our every action follow the dictates of Your mercy and justice, so that today and always our judgments may not be alien to You and in eternity we may obtain the unending reward of our actions. Amen.
May God bless America and may He deliver you out of all your troubles.
