By the light of burning martyrs, Jesus bleeding feet I track,
Toiling up new Calvaries ever With the cross that turns not back;
New occasions teach new duties, Time make ancient good uncouth;
They must upward still and onward, Who would keep abreast of truth.
Though the cause of evil prosper, Yet 'tis truth alone is strong;
Truth forever on the scaffold, Wrong forever on the throne,
Yet that scaffold sways the future, And behind the dim unknown,
Standeth God wintin the shadow Keeping watch above His own.
Father, we thank You today that You hold the future, and are keeping watch over us, and over our President, who is, indeed, Your own. We thank You that, in this battle of truth against falsehood, that our President stands firmly on the side of Your truth.
As nations tomorrow must decide between good and evil, we ask that You speak to their leaders, and prompt them to side with good, and if they do not, continue to give us, our President, and those who side with the cause of good, the courage to fight with strength and persistence.
Bless and protect our President and his family, and give them peace. Bless and protect our troops on the eve of battle, and infuse them with Your strength and power. And bless and protect our nation, placing a shield over it. In the strong name of Christ, the Messiah, we pray. Amen.
O Holy Spirit, we are here before you conscious of our many sins, but united in a special way in Your holy name. Come and abide with us, and deign to penetrate our hearts. Be the guide of our actions, indicate the path we should follow and show us what we must do, so that, with Your help, our work may be wholly pleasing to You. May You be our only inspiration and the overseer of our intentions, for You alone possess a glorious name with the Father and the Son. May You, Who are infinite justice, never permit us to be disturbers of justice. Let not our ignorance induce us to evil, nor flattery sway us, nor moral and material interest corrupt us. Unite our hearts to You alone, and do it strongly, so that with the gift of Your grace we may be one in You and may in nothing depart from the truth. Thus, united in Your name, may we in our every action follow the dictates of Your mercy and justice, so that today and always our judgments may not be alien to You and in eternity we may obtain the unending reward of our actions. Amen.
