That's what they still don't understand. Although they should - because Vietnam was in intellectual experience for most Americans but the WOT is emotional. Americans feel threatened. Libs are all about feelings, why don't they get it?
The average American understands instinctively that doing it the protesters way will get us all killed. The protesters can commit suicide if they want to - but the rest of us aren't even a little bit interested in doing that.

The war protests in the '60s were about one thing: the draft. When the draft was taken away, the protests stopped too. Of course the communist infiltrated the "peace" movement and used it for their own ends, as they do today. David Horowitz has written about that extensively.
