VANDENBERG AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. (AP) - Security forces at Vandenberg Air Force Base may use "deadly force" against protesters if they infiltrate the military complex if a war starts, officials said.

Some anti-war activists plan to trespass onto base grounds in hopes of disturbing Vandenberg's mission and to vandalize sensitive equipment they contend helps guide the war effort.

Well a quite a few years ago I had a similar situation only with children.
Back when I was a younger lass I lived in rual area that was attached to a large city. The neighbour kids decided that they were going to play football or baseball in the middle of the street instead of their huge yard. They would not allows traffic through(except me). They would continue to play their game as if nothing was wrong.
Well the first time I encounted the situation I got a little impatient and started rolling the car until it touched their backsides and then leaned on the horn. When they jumped I rolled forward again. As they scurried out of the way I informed them that I had little stickers on my door to mark how many "road kills" I had made.
The next time I challanged them I beeped twice and sped up, instead of slowing down. The mother hurried down to my house in a rage that I was going to hit one of her little darlings. I calmly informed her to keep her little darling out of the street and in their own yard and she would have nothing to worry about. I further explained that I had the right to drive on the public road and that her children had a huge yard to play in.
That solved the problem for me anyway, when they saw my car appear they scattered.

Several other neighbors saw them scatter when they saw me coming and questioned me how I had achieved this feat.
They were stunned when I told them. Another neighbor tried my technique and they started clearing a path for him also.

you know they'd love nothing more than a martyr....

Yeah, but when the martyrs start piling up, they may reconsider.

Good grief -- another locale for an arrest of Martin Sheen. Vandenberg's just a couple of hours north of Malibu...

Let the games begin!

TRESPASSERS SHOULD NOTIFY NEXT OF KIN

I still have it if they wish to borrow it!

Have to in this post 9/11 world. They could be Al Qaeda or suicide bombers. This isn't something for protesters to scr*w with.

Guadalupe man jumped onto the base's entrance sign Friday and sprayed it with 4 ounces of his own blood in a symbolic gesture of his anti-war stance. Dennis Apel, 52, later pleaded guilty to misdemeanor counts of trespassing and vandalism. He will be sentenced next month in a Santa Barbara federal court and faces a possible jail sentence or fine.

Test the pigs blood. If it comes back with any disease he should be charged with assault

Having the first round in MP shotguns be birdshot, and aiming for the legs, will be very convincing to the protestors.

Followup round of buckshot and slugs to center-mass will be even more convincing.

Les Nessman:

“It's a helicopter, and it's coming this way. It's flying something behind it, I can't quite make it out, it's a large banner and it says, uh - Happy... Thaaaaanksss... giving! ... From ... W ... K ... R... P!! No parachutes yet. Can't be skydivers... I can't tell just yet what they are, but - Oh my God, Johnny, they're turkeys!! Johnny, can you get this? Oh, they're plunging to the earth right in front of our eyes! One just went through the windshield of a parked car! Oh, the humanity! The turkeys are hitting the ground like sacks of wet cement! Not since the Hindenberg tragedy has there been anything like this!”

The deadly force policy will not deter protesters, said Peter Lumsdaine of the Vandenberg Action Coalition,

Works just fine for human shields.

Who was in the car? Somebody important? Or just some average person trying to get to work?

Heck, at rush hour, we're all important.

But will it reduce repeat offenders?

Dose them with sodium nitrate (?), that stuff that smells like rotten eggs that is/was sold at gimmick/joke stores.

That'd be hydrogen sulfide. Not to be confused with hydrogen cyanide...ooops!

Even better: ethyl mercaptan, the stuff they put in otherwise oderless natural gas so that the presence of a leak can be detected by the smell. Potent stuff!

I believe the guy's name was S. Brian Wilson. At the time, Limbaugh referred to him as 'Stupid' Brian Wilson.

What would you do if she was in front of your car?

Full ahead. If she dented my fender I'd sue her family.

Surreptitiously put the truck in neutral, plaster an INSANE grin across my face and floor it.

That ol' "cherry bomb" straight-through muffler sure is loud

You'll be amazed how fast the insolent laggers will "bust a move", as it were....:)

I'm a nice guy - I'd jump out of the car and bash her with my mag-light until she either moved or became immobilized so that I could drag her worthless carcass off of the road. Gut instinct is to put it in 4WD low-range and drive over her, but I'm not quite ready for that.

It's pretty clear you never served as a tank driver in the military. Running over stuff in our way was the highlight of the job.

That little Chinaman with the briefcase at Tienaman Square would not have fared as well with our lot either.

The Dummy

Here's a snip from his website.

Source

In 1987, while peacefully blocking a military train at a U.S. Navy munitions base in California loaded with armaments headed for Central America, I received severe injuries and was almost murdered when the train chose not to stop.

The Navy train crew and their superiors knew in advance of our nonviolent three-member veterans' blockade and had a clear, 650-foot view as the train approached us at high noon on a bright sunny day.

Though expecting to be arrested and jailed by the nearby armed U.S. Marines and local police, we never imagined the conscious and criminal acceleration of the loaded train to more than three times its posted five-mile-an-hour legal speed limit. I lost both legs, suffered a fractured skull, multiple other injuries, and nearly lost my life as I was run over by the speeding train.

One of the other veterans dove out of the way at the last minute.

Sadly, I never got to drive one, though I did have some fun with a snow plow a few years ago. No misguided pedestrians were involved, however.

I couldn't do it, but I wish some driver lawyer would file a civil claim for damages against people like this. At the very least it would offer more punishment that whatever the State Police are likely to suggest.
