VANDENBERG AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. (AP) - Security forces at Vandenberg Air Force Base may use "deadly force" against protesters if they infiltrate the military complex if a war starts, officials said.

Some anti-war activists plan to trespass onto base grounds in hopes of disturbing Vandenberg's mission and to vandalize sensitive equipment they contend helps guide the war effort.

How about subversive activity during wartime? Or at least suspected, by virtue of trespassing.

About damned time! Now if local police departments could just do the same - if they're blocking municipal functions or destroying public property.

This will be the "Kent State" for today's Peaceniks. It's exactly what the organizers want.

It probably is, but the overall cultural climate is not the same as in the time of Kent State. The effects will be no where near the same.

The difference to an MP between a war protester causing sabotage versus an infiltrating terrorist causing sabotage, is... (answer in opposing cell)

Years ago, a tv crew climbed the fence at the Concord Naval Weapons Station. They were there to "investigate" whether the Navy stored nuke weapons at the the base.

The cameraman refused to turn his video camera off after a member of the Marine security detail advised him to do so.

The cameraman's trip to the ground and his subsequent screams were caught on tape as the Marines tossed him to the ground and handcuffed him.

While in ROTC, we were instucted to remove our caps while on the airfield. The idea was they didn't want the wind to blow a hat off our heads, and some unsuspecting cadet chase the cap across the red boundary. There was a red line painted around the perimeter of the airfield (where nuclear devices were located) and unauthorized entry across that line was 'lethal'. There were a couple dozen armed guards posted 24/7/365 to enforce that rule. Naturally, signs were posted everywhere warning about unauthorized access, as well as painted on the red line about every 50 feet.

Perhaps, we need to have some useful idiots cut down, just to show the other idiots that actions can have consequences.

Yes it will. I agree, they want someone to get killed for propaganda purposes. I am hoping a simple warning shot will stop them, but no one knows until it happens.

"Some anti-war activists plan to trespass onto base grounds in hopes of disturbing Vandenberg's mission and to vandalize sensitive equipment they contend helps guide the war effort.

Vandenberg officials revealed Friday that military security police may shoot to kill, if necessary, to protect base residents and machinery."

------

It's about time! These are not "protesters" or "activists", they are TERRORISTS, ATTACKING our military installation, and as such they deserve no mercy.

The First Ammendment allows for free expression of opinion, NOT the attack of the US government and willful destruction of government property.

A Guadalupe man jumped onto the base's entrance sign Friday and sprayed it with 4 ounces of his own blood in a symbolic gesture...next time, base security will spray his blood all over the place not even CSI will be able to figure it out.

Some "creative redecorating" would be done with that little sign of hers.
