MSNBC reports mystery illness in Asia-kills every one infected so far. Hundreds more infected. Airlner to Toronto with infected man has been quarentined-- all passengers.
CDC is "EXTREMELY concerned". If these hundreds who are infected die in the next couple of days, we might have the beginnings of a panic. After sophisticated test doctors don't know what it is. Like flu or Pnemonia symptoms, except everybody dies. Press conference at 1pm.

It doesn't matter how they arrived. LF is not a neo-nazi site If 75% of all posts on a site is from neo-nazis, it is a neo-nazi site. Sorry, but all the free-speech good intentions in the world cannot change what is is. As for telling them, I would no more have a dialogue with these critters than I would be talking to a hyena in the wild.
Encouraging censorship in the world of 1's and 0's does not make the situation in the meat world disappear.
Censorship of a pesthole like LF will not be forthcoming, of course. But sooner of later one of the wannabe terrorists there will go overboard. At that point, alll bets are off :).
They just go underground.
Hehe. Wasn't it good ol' bluegrass/hogwaller/jamie who thought he would always be invisible? It doesn't work that way.

So, ummm, did the press conference ever, umm, like, happen?? I think it did. Someone had a conference and came out and told the press they'd had one. Not much in the way of info. There'll probably be more to gain from following ProMed.

Singapore seems like a strange place for a terrorist biological attack to originate, if this is indeed a biological attack.

Depends on the ease of transmission. Within the next few days we will know much more:
1. Did anyone who shared the plane with the sick Doctor become infected? (Airborne)
2. Did his two companions become infected? (casual contact)
The rate of spread and the conflicting information on mortality is disturbing...

What a Friend we have in Jesus,
all our sins and griefs to bear!
What a privilege to carry
everything to God in prayer!
O what peace we often forfeit,
O what needless pain we bear,
all because we do not carry
everything to God in prayer. Have we trials and temptations?
Is there trouble anywhere?
We should never be discouraged;
take it to the Lord in prayer.
Can we find a friend so faithful
who will all our sorrows share?
Jesus knows our every weakness;
take it to the Lord in prayer.
Are we weak and heavy laden,
cumbered with a load of care?
Precious Savior, still our refuge,
take it to the Lord in prayer.
Do your friends despise, forsake you?
Take it to the Lord in prayer!
In his arms he'll take and shield you;
you will find a solace there.
Blessed Savior, thou hast promised
thou wilt all our burdens bear
may we ever, Lord, be bringing all
to thee in earnest prayer.
Soon in glory bright unclouded there
will be no need for prayer
Rapture, praise and endless worship
will be our sweet portion there.

Highly recommed the book
"Flu: The Story of the Great Influenza Pandemic of 1918 and the Search for the Virus that Caused It"
by Gina Bari Kolata
Very interesting & gets into the exhumation of corpses in Alaska and Norway by two competing scientific teams. Scary parallels with this SARS in terms of origins, time of year, infection rates, etc. Recently published as paberbook in 2001--found hardback at local library. Worth a read!

The rate of spread and the conflicting information on mortality is disturbing... The rate of spread seems actually quite fantastic, if you look at what happened in Hong Kong. But there may be many more vectors out of Vietnam than this lone patient in Hanoi. The mortality doesn't seem all that high so far. But it's early yet, and as someone pointed out - even a moderate mortality rate in a real pandemic can give horrible results.

CNN just reported that the other 155 passengers have been released from Germany, and that two individuals with SARS have passed thru USA. Atlanta and New York

On another thread someone mentioned the possibility of 2 cases quarantined in San Francisco. With the incubation 2-7 days, next week will be interesting as the government will be forced to react if this is indeed the danger it appears to be.
To: Maeve
Thanks Maeve, my youngest is running a fever of 101.8 right now. I keep asking myself as I read the threads, can this really be happening?
To: CathyRyan
The more I read, the more it's sounding viral. Not good.

I will tell my grandmother and mother about your youngest. I know they will remember you both in their Rosary tonight. And here the children and I will pray for you both during our family Rosary tonight. The Lord Jesus Christ bless your family with healing and peace.. ( St. Raphael the Archangel, pray for us. )

You know, I'd hate to be the first to say it (but I will, anyway): Saddam's revenge?I was gonna say something similar, could this be bio-terrorism?

" Actually, you seem to have your head fairly far up your a$$. What do your tonsils look like from behind?"Whatever. This is a conservative forum. If you want to call those who are more conservative than you "Nazis".....makes one wonder why you're even here. Perhaps Democrat Underground would be more to your liking. They like to call conservatives "Nazis" also.

"More whining from the "America is for white pseudo Christians only" crowd, as you masquerade as patriots. Go back to LF, loser."I know you're mad that you were "outed" as one of those "Log Cabin Republicans". There's still hope for you if you give up your perverted homosexual lifestyle. Think about it.
To: Domestic Church
One of the big problems with this is that the symptoms they have given are so general. You really need to have a blood draw done to see what the white count is to have a clue whether it is a run of the mill ear infection, etc. or something much worse.
Hope your little one feels better soon!
To: Lancey Howard
Probably not. Asia is crowded, filthy or unsanitary in many primative areas outside the city, and Asia is notorious for originating flu and other like like-type illnesses. I'm not shocked. The history is listed earlier on this thread including the slaughter of 2.7 million chickens a few years ago. I'm hearing now there may also be trouble in Vietnam.
