A coalition of organizations is organizing multiple rallies across the country next weekend to give people who support military action against Iraq a chance to publicly take a stand.
"We feel it is critical for Americans to stand together to demonstrate to our fellow citizens, our soldiers, our nation and the world our resolve to support our troops, stand in opposition to terrorism and terrorists, and endorse the liberation of the Iraqi people," said Bob Johnson, national director of the Free Republic Network, and Jason Harding, executive director of Young Americans for Freedom, in a statement.
The two organizations are sponsoring what they call "Liberty Weekend." The also have the support of the American Conservative Union, the National Federation of Republican Assemblies and the College Republicans.
"According to a recent CBS News poll, 69 percent of Americans support the use of military action in Iraq. Removing Saddam Hussein from power and eliminating his weapons of mass destruction is a necessary step in ensuring the safety and security of Americans and of freedom loving people everywhere," said the statement.
The Free Republic Network website has posted information about the rallies, including a U.S. map where visitors can click on a location to find the rally nearest them. There also is a page for those who want to organize a rally and have it posted on the site.
While currently there are approximately 30 rallies scheduled, Johnson predicts that many more will be planned before next weekend.
"I think we're going to have over a hundred," he told WND.
In promoting the rallies, Scott Swett, chairman of the Free Republic Network, rhetorically asked: "After all, why should the leftists have the streets all to themselves?"

I a glad I posted it. I think the more publicity the pro-US rallies and Free Republic get, the better. It sends a powerful message for a lot of people, that it is OK to be pro-US. In fact it's everyone's patriotic duty to support our country and our troops against the enemy.
All the mainstream media reports turning the so-called anti-war, (but actually anti-US, Saddam-supporting) crowd practically into heroes.
It's time for the "silent majority" to stand up and be counted.

At the rally we FReeped today, one of *their* chants was "Support the troops - Bring them Home!"
They had one lady singing, and we asked ouselves if it wasn't "cruel and unusual punishment", since she was awwwwful. ;-P

At the rally we FReeped today, one of *their* chants was "Support the troops - Bring them Home!" The leftists took a big PR hit by spitting on and reviling American troops during and after VietNam, so now they're pretending to be their friends.
It's worth pointing out that their actions make our troops lives and jobs more dangerous by giving hope to our enemies. And that nobody wearing a uniform is fooled by leftist claims of "support."

The leftists took a big PR hit by spitting on and reviling American troops during and after VietNam, so now they're pretending to be their friends. Yes, I think I remember seeing an interview with Chicago 7 member Jerry Rubin (Later Leftist Yuppie!) who conceded it was a huge mistake to yield the American flag symbology to the Right.
What he wasn't intellectually honest enough to admit is that since they hate America it was natural for them to yield the American flag to the right.

Thanks for the link! Looks like the hit of the day was in Atlanta. Great work, but, it's that Nationwide thing that is so great! It makes it much more difficult for the left to discard us as just members of the VRWC!
Thanks for your work on the forum today as I know you're not feeling well!

LOL, Atlanta did great. You should check out the Atlanta thread because it's so funny -- Freepers are coming home and just *assuming* that they're going to get zero media coverage and they're already claiming media bias and I'm trying to tell them, without getting flamed, that, um, well, no, actually, they had very GOOD coverage.
I hope the Glenn Beck people don't mind the CNN's article reference to "Free Republic" - because I know there was more than that in Atlanta. They press never seems to get these attributions/memberships perfect. No one should care. The key thing is we're all supporting President Bush and our troops, and on a nationwide scale.
I don't know if you've seen FOXNEWS national TV but check out some of the stills from the DC live thread. We got good coverage from Fox.

And NOW that we're finally getting some positive coverage is NOT the time to try and clarify to WHOM the credit should go! It's vital that we just keep nodding our heads and say, "Yes, There are Tens of Millions of Americans who feel just as we do here!"
You've done a great job of moderating today!

" And NOW that we're finally getting some positive coverage is NOT the time to try and clarify to WHOM the credit should go!" Wasn't it Ronaldus Maximus that said that there was no limit to what could be done if we didn't care who got the credit?

One of my favorites also. Probably the ones that say that you use it too much are more interested in the credit than they are in getting the job done.
