"I remember him quoting the "you'll have my gun when you take it from my cold, dead hands" bumper sticker and then saying, "whatever" with a smile (meaning "if we have to kill you to get the gun, fine.") "
Well, see, the thing is, that's kind of funny.
The man's actual job is "commedian." Being funny always comes first.

I've been telling people for years that Dennis Miller is no liberal.
I mean he has taken a sharp turn to the right in the last two years, but he was NEVER a liberal.
His rant on the media about their treatment of Perot's running mate, Admiral Stockdale, was the most blistering and cutting attack on the standard liberal hump idiots in the profession that I've ever seen. It didn't make him a conservative, but his hatred of liberals, even back then, was palpable.

Yeah, but Brent Bozell's been giving him the hairy f'n' stinkeye for like five years, so people who don't really know him have a skewed impression.
Brent Bozell is Sinestro to Miller's Green Lantern.
To: Warhead W-88
It was Perot-- a man I'm guessing a lot of you Freepers also supported. "You" FReepers.....
Freudian slip partner.....why are you here?
Are you not a "Freeper"?

he was on SNL from 85-90 right?
I don't remember the years.
he was ripping on conservatives?
Yes.
or just the people who just happened to be in the White House at that time? it occurs to me that he ripped on Slick Willie fairly often when he took up residence there (tho no longer on SNL obviously)...
Norm MacDonald ripped into the Clintons. I don't recall DM doing that. Norm is the
one who made some antiClinton remark that made the audience suck in their breath. In
the silence that followed, Norm said, "You know he's a murderer, right?" Now, that's
from the same writers, I imagine, who wrote for DM but you never heard anything remotely
like that from Dennis.

And I can't believe that politically-aware people have completely tuned out that whole Perot/Stockton thing.
If the man was a liberal-- for the love of Pete, why did he not support the Democratic candidate with the best chance of getting into the White House in a generation?
Why did Miller skip out on Clinton in 1992 if he was such a card-carrying liberal?
To: wardaddy
I've only been posting here for a month. I wouldn't want to be presumptuous.
To: Warhead W-88
In any event, I didn't mean "you Freepers" to be insulting. I meant it to be descriptive. You are Freepers, are you not?
To: Warhead W-88
Well, see, the thing is, that's kind of funny. It was funny. But... (shivver)

Miller was all over the impeachment Pubbies while he defended Clinton for just wanting a frigging blowjob.
I'm happy to see him scathing the bash America gang now but in the past, he has not been terribly conservative policy wise.
I think he sees the Lefty Loonies for what they are.....easy ammo to skew with his epee wit and if it happens to fit his own personal perspective right now then all the better.

I'll ignore the comic book reference, pleading ignorance, but Brent Bozell is a friggin idiot.
The fact that that guy can't recognize that "South Park" is the most deviously conservative, counter-cultural outlet for liberal-bashing EVER exposes the blinders on his eyes.
Hes like that other blowhard Bill Bennett. If you find something funny that they dont, then you are a detriment to our society, no better than a flamingly gay Mexican version of Joseph Stalin himself.

Man, I say a few words of support for Dennis Miller and suddenly people are accusing me of running some sort of D.U. agent provacateur psyops.
I don't want to say some of you are overly suspicious, but let's just say the last time I was catching this many sideward glances was when I attended a NORML Halloween Party dressed as Andy Frickin' Sipowicz.
To: Warhead W-88
I lived over seas at the time and may have missed everything he said. That said you might want to do a web search using "dennis miller" "impeachment". This little gem pretty much fits what I remember him having to say.

I can't say he loved Clinton but he wasn't calling for his head either.
To: Warhead W-88
I'm a FReeper.
I did not take your sentence structure to be demeaning. You will have to admit that it gave the implication that you felt outside our group.
You can disagree with anyone about Miller's credentials including me (and yes I'm more suspect of him than you are) and still consider yourself a FReeper.
To have only been here a month, you seem to have it down pat.

You missed this:
>Inspired by Dennis Miller (And his staff of writers.)
Those aren't Dennis Miller rants. Those are the rants of an internet imitator, aping Miller's style and flourishes.
I picked up on that not being a genuine Miller rant in like three seconds. It's frickin' lame. It's the kind of thing an unfunny person who thinks he's funny writes.
To: Warhead W-88
A funny person writes stuff like, "The man's got such a hair up his ass about miller, the last time he was watching Bordello of Blood he pooped out an adult bull Sasquatch."
Not that lame D.U. bullsh-t that dope wrote on his little site.
Trust me-- yes, Miller would take the occasional shot at the Impeachment Managers, and yes, he pulled the moral equivalence BS, and sure, he could not resist the easy-peasy jokes about "looking through bedroom windows" and that crap.
But the guy was haaaaarsh on Clinton. And his wife.
To: gcruse
Not sure what Norm has to do with this. Other than being the "News" guy after DM.
Anyway, then I assume you never watched Dennis Miller Live then since you don't recall him ripping Clinton?
And he WAS on SNL from 85-90 (that wasn't a question so much as a statement). While the people running the country were who??? That's right -- Ronnie and Bush I. So a COMEDIAN ripped on people who happened to be in the White House at the time? No kidding?
By the way this is from a Q&A w/Miller a while back.

From momama: What's your take on why the country basically turned its head the other way on Clinton literally doing his job with his pants down--have we become that blasé when it comes to his affairs?
We're very reticent as a culture to call people on their BS, because we're told it makes us intolerant--but it might just make us right.
From wrestling: If Bill Clinton could run for office again, would you vote for him, based on how he's run the country?
No.
Doesn't sound like he liked Bill much, eh?

I just can't believe some lefty peacenik HBO exec gave Bill Maher a hour talk show and they canceled Dennis Miller's show? What the blank is HBO thinking? Does the current political climate in the USA somehow show that democrats are the most watched or heard voice right now? ADVICE TO HBO: Start taking your medication again, reality is only a pill away.
Besides Billy boy Maher-d is a lucky SOB just to be on TV, doesn't anyone remember his remarks about the 9-11 terrorists having balls for flying jets into the world trade center? He's a frickin disgrace to this country.
I can't wait to see Billy Boy Maher-d's show with Ron Silver, Dennis Miller, Sean Hannity and Rush Limbaugh sitting on his panel with Michael Savage sitting courtside waiting to bat clean-up on his sorry ass.
Rant down, I'm out.
To: billsux
I don't remember Dennis Miller Live being any different from his SNL gig, but then I hated his smarmy ass by then. It's going to take a while to get used to thinking of him in kindly terms, but I'm working on it.

I really do not care about DM's past, he is right on the mark now!!
It is about time that we have voices that can think on their feet, we do not have people that do that well. I say that Dennis Miller, Ron Silver, Hitchens (spelling?) are doing very well. We should support them as converts to specific causes. This is not to say that they and we may have different viewpoints on other subjects -- but so what!
