Someone probably beat me to this by now, but it's this:

Joint Direct Attack Munition.
A very smart bomb -- comes in various sizes. But you wouldn't think a B-1 would be tasked for mobile radar units...
To: the_Watchman
JDAM = Joint Direct Attack Munition; 2000-lb bomb with a satellite guidance kit. Uses GPS (Global Positioning System) updates to guide it to the target; extremely accurate--even more accurate than most laser-guided bombs. In the event the GPS signal is jammed, it used an inertial navigation system to find its way to the target coordinates...
Phase 1 of the Air Campaign: Establish Air Supremacy by Eliminating the Iraqi Integrated Air Defense System (IADS). The Air War is well underway....

Says the US and Britain supplies as many arms to Iraq as France. The Labourite who is saying that is lying. We didn't provide arms to Iraq during the Iran/Iraq war, just tactical support (i.e. satellite photos showing where the Iranians were massing for an offensive against the Iraqis). Whenever someone says something like that, they should be asked what happpened to all of the U.S. weapons. We found plenty of Russian and French made weaponry after the end of the Gulf War, but no American made weapons.

Y'know I spelled it REED alert on purpose, right? It's a Star Trek thing...

They're even more mobile now. The parts that don't blow in the wind can be carried in your pocket.

Isn't this a B-2, not a B-1?

That specific news via Iran, re: Kirkuk and Khanequeyn cities in Iraq today, is still up in several Japanese news source websites, in addition to European news. They have not taken it down or retracted. No English language reports yet, though. (as of 5:20 p.m. EST)
Any western reporter trying to go up there is liable to have his camera ripped to shreds, or get arrested, or get shot, take your pick. The sweating Iraqi military and police are getting REALLY jump and nervous with the media, 'human shields', all kinds of people now. Kicking out Boston Globe, telling Fuji TV (Japan) to stop filming people, or be arrested. That kind of stuff.

Such a beautiful aricraft. I remember watching them circle the skies around Ellsworth AFB in the early 80's.
I look forward to it's flyby every year at the airshow.

No we didn't.
To: SamAdams76
Starting to think that myself. I am noticing a LOT of IPB activity coming to a head, and the ships can launch TLAMs from the Red sea....so...it won't be hard to begin the bombing now.
