There was another article that said that the screen to the girl's window had been cut from the inside on the day she went missing. It is crossing my mind that the young girl may have run away on her own to go with the drifter. fourteen year olds often do really stupid things. Just a thought - no flames please I am open to correction.

The article is bogus. The Salt Lake PD addressed this issue specifically. The screen was cut from the outside.

furthur more it strikes me as odd when I see the girl in recent pictures. She doesn't look like she has gone though any major tramatic event. Just all smiles and bubbles as she sits at the center of world attention.

You don't know what you're talking about.
You've been corrected.

You're right. Some details are being mistated and/or blown out of proportion here.
OTOH, those who are standing by the Smarts no matter what happens are gonna run out of excuses at some point. These people must admit there were and continue to be many wierd twists to this story and something stinks!

He could be a poster child for the dependent Dim. He actually claimed that if a Republican congressman didn't get his "Amber Alert" law passed TODAY,it would be HIS fault the next girl was kidnapped and murdered! He obviously thinks the government is the answer to any question that ever comes up,and the gooberment is our daddy and will protect us.

The sources said Mitchell, who left the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the late 1990s, was strongly extremist in his religious views and had been preaching to officers during his interrogation. Law enforcement sources said he appeared to know a good deal about the law.
The sources said Mitchell was articulate and smart and did not believe he had done anything wrong. He saw himself as a prophet who was paid by God, they said.

I would like to believe otherwise, however I think this case is so strange. I have been wondering this myself. Espicially since the parents and family "just knew" she would be back. I still think Elizabeth was a vicitm of brianwashing, however I think it may have happened before she was "taken". It makes sense to me, considering all of the info we have gotten thus far. Just some common sense stuff leads me to believe the parents may have known more than they were telling the media. BTW... If my child were missing / "runaway" I would do the same thing they did. Why not use the Media to help find the kid.
If I am correct, I don't balme the family for using the media to help find a missing person, even if they knew she was a victim of brainwashing and ran away.
She is still too young to be held accountable in a situation like this, but she is old enough to be honest. Her family should come clean now, if they were hiding anything.
